Got these five signed T206s back in trade from two of my best signed T206 traders. Except for the Marquard, each one is originally from the 2007 Great Pittsburgh Find of Signed T206 Cards. I have owned each one on at least one prior occasion, and I am genuinely thrilled to have them all back. While none of them are my only example of a signed T206 pose, they are still unique to me. And give me more ammunition to trade for other signed T206s.

Picked these up last night and tonight. Although I've completed the C46 set, the last card I got was Corcoran so I couldn't resist buying another example of the card I waited 2 years for. The other 2 C46s went for peanuts so I picked them up. Although I sold my E90-1 set, I still pick up a few of the ones I really liked. This one is authentic but nice eye appeal.

Wheat T206

2 Attachment(s)
Well, I finally got a Zach Wheat signed T206, gave up some cards that were great, but overall, this fits my collection much better. Also, I picked up this great W514 Edd Rousch, it'll have to do since he doesn't have a T206 :)

Bicem 09-13-2012 02:39 PM

painful to see that sticker on the card.

It is, but oh well, still a sweet card. I'm guessing the original owner sent it in to get it non-slab, and then someone else got it later to get it slabbed...

markf31 09-13-2012 03:00 PM

Huge thanks to Mike for working with me on acquiring these. Stoked.

When I bought the Rousch at a show, it came with the sticker on the back. So I walked it over to the SGC table. Because the sticker had the cert number there was only the cost to encapsulate it (~$10) to get the JSA cert on the flip. A real no brainer. Whoever decided to go with the sticker on the back in the first instance, I have no idea. Certainly wasn't my idea.

I think grading is good for the hobby overall. When I see a sticker on a card or a photo I puke. Still a very neat card though....congrats on that!!

That's what I assumed, I knew you wouldn't dare to do that. Wonder if it could get lightly soaked and removed...but I don't wanna break it out, front is where it matters on this card.

Agreed!

Great card, lousy sticker. What would be so tough about taking a picture of the card and putting it on an accompanying COA letter?

I had a beater E91 McBride auto that had the sticker. I peeled it off. Left a little oval of empty space on the back, but was better than having that damn sticker on it.

There is a strip card with this same image that is extremely hard to find. I saw one on eBay years ago in a lot that didn't have it labeled and I missed out on it. I haven't seen another since.

Thanks for posting a picture of the Thorpe strip card, Andy. Very cool item. I read about it, but have yet to see one for sale. Do you happen to remember what it went for?

CobbSpikedMe 09-13-2012 04:57 PM

Hi Jeff,

I think the whole lot that the strip card was included with went for around $50 total. It was a total steal for whoever won it. I missed the end of the auction and was so bummed.

Morehouse Cobb - nice

Calvindog - very nice Morehouse Cobb - I had bid on this card in the recent Legendary auction - was one of the 3 cards I had my eye on. But a little much for my budget right now. It sure has top shelf centering, ahhh.

I did pick up the 1926-29 Exhibit Lou Gehrig card. Can't wait to receive it in mail

Something seems a little odd about that statement, Phil!!! Thanks..You know more about these than I do. Did they use the same photo for '40 and '41? and if so, is there any way to tell the difference? This was listed as a '41, so I'll go with that for now..

Uniform database puts the pinstripe unis with P on the collar and dark hats to 1913 and 1914. So, I'd say right in there. Oh, and it's a postcard.

Thanks for all of the kudos. I think it ended about right though I had my snipe quite a bit higher. I know of two others, one being sold in Goodwin last year.
