Thanks Jason.
The wait for a presentable Ade Thoss took a few years. Click on the link in my initial post to see all of the subset. Patrick |
Thanks Orlando and Jay
And it only took me 4 years to find it, woohoo!!! At this rate I will have my rookie prewar collection done just before my 200th birthday, then its time to party, lol

T210 Subset complete
8 Attachment(s)
Jason,
Here are the "catcher wearing chest protectors" in the T210 Old Mill set. Now I need to start another T210 project. Perhaps one cool catcher from each of the 8 series. Patrick |

Mis-labeled as 1937. Upon closer inspection, it's actually the tougher brown tinted 1938.

Just got this beautiful rare Ruth Ross Verlag Postcard via trade with a board member! Excited to add this one to the collection!

Small mailday
Been after this Muddy Ruel for a while now for my Red Sox catcher PC....love the image! Didn't want to have to settle for an E120, I much prefer the E121 so I was glad when this one finally showed up on ebay. Thanks Rhett!

My Dudley T210 was purchased from you ...Jason!
Jason,
Ironically I purchased the Dudley T210 from you! Patrick |
Erick, that is Sweet! Never seen it.

It really is gorgeous in person. Ross Verlag made lots of high quality real photo postcards of actors and actresses of the day. This comes from the movie "Speedy", released in 1928 and features actor Harry Lloyd. The same image is used on the much smaller Josetti card, but the clarity on this postcard is amazing! |
T207 Livingston & Real Picture Postcard of catcher in full gear
2 Attachment(s)
Received these 2 items in the mail today.
Picked up a nice T207 Paddy Livingston (A on shirt) from PWCC at a great price. Wanted this card because the "A" is much lighter than the other one I picked up last year. This one has a Recruit Factory 606 Dist MD back, whereas the original one had a nice Napoleon back. Now have 3 different backs with my 4 Paddy Livngston T207s. Also picked up another RPPC of a catcher in full gear which reminds me of a T209-2 card. Patrick |
Great image on that postcard Patrick!
|
+1 -- I dig the fielding pose with the ball on the ground between his legs.
Nice PC Erick! Quote:

Very happy to add these to my set................... :)
They all are quite tough commons to find with non-Pied./SC backs ........ ;) Attachment 269888 Fun, fun, Scott  |

Great Hornsby! One of my favorites, tough card and really hard to find with decent centering.
|
Thanks! I've wanted to add a Hornsby to my collection for a while, and I like this image. The centering is really what caught my eye...

I know there was a diverse set of opinions on this card

But I sold some stocks because I thought the stock market was overvalued and figured if I had to ride the train down on something, i wanted it to be on something I wanted to buy before I died rather than on some index-linked ETF.
The yellow Ruth is the last expensive card I need in the set my dad got me interested in during the early 1990s. Special thanks to this board. I would have never seen this auction without someone flagging it. |

Congrats Scott! Card is a real beauty!

Congrats Scott!!! That is a special card that will always be among the elite cards in our hobby. You can't lay in bed at night and hold and stare at your stocks. Enjoy it.

Ha. When I tell my wife, this may be the only thing in bed to lay with. But seriously, I regretted not buying one a few years back, and I just felt like I was always going to make room to buy this card, so the sooner the better, I suppose. I wasn't that turned off by the rip on the back -- I never look at the back, you know? I mean, if I had $100k, I might think differently....but not at the moment. |
Nice

I know they're just commons but these are the first pre-war/non-Topps cards I've picked up in a long time. Have been preoccupied with postwar set building.
I enjoy adding clean commons as much as big name players from any set and at a lot less money. Same history and many times a lot more interesting. (and you gotta love the nicknames!) http://www.vintagecans.com/baseballcards/41pb.jpg |

Goudey Lajoie
Love that Lajoie! I assume you were referring to the 1933 set (and not 1934, which some people attribute it to). Either way -- amazing card, with great clarity!!!

Was happy to pick up SC 350/25 versions of these. These were harder to find than I expected compared to the 350/30s.
