Is this an Old Story- Amazing Card Collection

Is this an old story? Does anyone know who the seller is?

No, it is not an old story. Remarkable collection.

Looks like the Steve Soloway collection: Link

So Memory Lane bought them all ?

It's kind of funny how there's a 1985 Woolworth's and 1989 K-Mart set in there for good measure.

So since it's not mentioned one would assume that the PSA 5 Doyle he had listed in his collection was either a PSA mis-label or he's keeping that card?

He just won (another) award at the PSA luncheon; wonder why he's selling?

This is part of the mail sent out by Memory Lane. Since they list the T206 as 100%, I'm assuming that the Doyle will be sold also. Not sure why they didn't highlight it.

BTW, that PSA 2 Wagner looks overgraded. Should be a 1 ....

WOW !!! That's actually very suprising if it is, in fact, Steve Soloway's collection. I spent a few hours hanging out with him and his son, Jake at the 2009 National and spent about a half hour hanging out with them again at this year's National.

He DID say he had spent a lot of money over the last 8 years on cards and was going to to stop spending for a while, but gave no indication that he was selling them.

Browsing through the details of this collection gave me a headache.

Alan, I believe your "eeks" appropriately depict my thoughts on the magnitude of this collection...

Simply put: :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

If it is Soloway's collection, I'm at least pretty close to a few of his master sets. For example, I have 3 Cubs T207 cards of the 10 or so. So, of the Cubs, I have 3. Take that Steve...take that.

Anyone interested in forming a T 206 investment club with this one? Surely there is a value between what a dealer is going to pay to break up the set, and the true value of the set which very few people are likely to pay because they're already collectors and have it partially completed.

Thus, we should form an investment club for the sake of buying and holding the set. Anyone interested?

PSA doesn't play favorites, at least not with me! :(

If you go to this link and click on the "Soloway" tab

you will see that the cards shown in the sales ad match up with the Soloway collection.

Ken Kendrick has a nice PSA 8 trifecta - T206 of Plank, Wagner, and M101-4 Ruth.

Scott Ireland's Wagner is gorgeous as well.

Interesting story: I met Steve Soloway at the National in Cleveland a few years ago.

My godson Ryan (was around 15 at the time) and I were walking down an aisle. I asked me if my watch was a rolex. I laughed and told him when you see a rolex watch you'll know it. Sure enough about 2 minutes later we were at a booth looking at some cards. A guy stops by and I here Ryan say "Wow.. that must be a rolex!". The guy laughs and says "what's the big deal? I have baseball cards worth more than this watch!". He proceeds to spill out 10 cards that he just received from PSA all with the "Soloway Collection" on the label. The ten cards were worth about $1,000,000 (T206 Wagner included). I wish I had taken a picture. When he left the guys at the booth made a comment about him being a show-off or something. Ryan and I were just happy to see ten of the highest priced baseball cards all at once!
