Figured I would start this month's pickup thread with my first 19th Century card. Picked this up from a fellow board member and couldn't be happier with it.

Been waiting a long time for this card.

Great 'foray' into the 19th Century guys...

I wonder when the last monthly pickup thread started with two cards this old.

Nice WaJo Ruben. I still don't understand why PSA uses those Mylar inserts on a card like yours. Doesn't look like there would be any sliding around without it.

I love the color on that Stahl, nice addition.

Also, I agree with the other comments - that is a fantastic WaJo, congrats.

Picked this up a couple weeks back from a local antiques dealer who found it in the bottom of a box-lot of non-baseball related postcards from the same time period, all related to the same woman out of Detroit. They're rough, but still connected which was the real bonus.

Picked up this Red Kleinow T204 Ramly on eBay. This one replaces the one I sold to a boardmember who was working on completing the set.

I was able to upgrade my Morris Horizontal last week out of nowhere. Scanner bit the dust on the reverse though.

Picked up this WWG Ruth from Jim Cochran. Great eye appeal for the grade.

...well , I consider it an upgrade. I insist that any writing on any of my blank-back cards be on the blank back. Not the front.

..I obviously don't insist that they necessarily have corners....

....hey , it took years YEARS to find a second one of these 1936 R314 Type 2 Goudey Premiums..... Upgrade is in the eye of the beholder...

Wow, that's incredible color and centering for the grade. IMO, the WWG's represent a great value. Seem to generally sell for less than the Goudey counterparts despite being more rare. Who cares if there's a little French on that back?

Oh man, I was watching that Cycle 460 Matty, but knew it would be a little more than I can handle at the moment. That is a beautiful card, congrats! Still ended up splurging a bit on this through PWCC, though was happy with the price.

I'm sure this should go somewhere else, but it's my first post-war card and I only ever post here. Got this at the WSSCA show in Seattle over the weekend.

I added another Doc Oberlander to my collection - I really like the image on this one. I also added 2 more Pelty's.

Loving the pricing on many 6's and 7's right now compared to the insane prices of 8', 9's and 10's. Get em while they're hot gentlemen!

Obviously my first Fleischmanns, and in each case only one graded. Prices last night on large group at Goodwin all over the map, some appeared to bd real bargains--based on past sales--but maybe not.

Brian, I had bids on all them, also. Wonder what you think of prices in general? I think I got mine at good price because each had previous sale at lower rate--but for cards without a coupon, which is key for this. So people may have compared these cards, with coupons, to much less valuable ones....

Prices in respect to the commons had a good range. Obviously, the better common players (sounds like a contradiction in terms) got more bids. I had bids on not just Stengel, Gardner and Herzog, but also Daubert and Gowdy. The cards have a following with people willing to pay good money, including myself.
