Mike Trout Autograph help needed!

Is this autograph authentic? He has such a simple autograph that it scares me. Any help is appreciated.

theshleps 01-23-2015 10:30 AM

not comfortable with that one

shelly 01-23-2015 11:00 AM

I am not a trout person but comparing it to others :mad::mad:

I would buy it without a doubt. I would consider myself to be a self-proclaimed 'expert' or whatever you want to call it for Trout. I have a lot of IP signatures that match that, and over 50 total signed.

Like I said from what I saw it did not have the flow the rest of them showed. I am sure you are correct. I should have never said anything when I really dont know that autograph. My bad.
Now we now know the Trout guy:D

No worries!! The OP's post is a 2013 autograph most likely. It matches up really well with the ball and blue chrome refractor and others I have as well.

Brent I still agree with Shelly. I have about 10 IP of Trout. I don't like the horizontal line under the T. Doesn't flow but if it was at a stadiu with people pushing etc- maybe?

I don't see any issue with the line, could you please explain further? It's in line with some I have posted, same slant, same formations, loops etc. With the flow issue, are you thinking it may be drawn or slow? If so, I don't see any evidence of that either...Trout at stadiums is crazy, worst I've seen was Pedro.

i'm not comfortable with trouts unless it's from a reliable ip source. with his (easy) sig and fame he could be the most forged baseball player right now. psa won't be of any help either as they'll randomly reject 50% of the trouts, good or bad.

Yeah, PSA is a stickler I heard. True that it is simple and easy to replicate, it is still easy to spot fakes etc. I really have only seen one or two that I didn't quite know for sure.

I was fortunate to get a ton in the minors and IP here in Minny and kind of know his uncle, so I'm quite familiar with his sig progressions over the years, like with my Mauer collection.

without a picture attached to that signature I wouldn't have a clue who it is.that's what's wrong with signatures these days compared to the old days

djson1 01-24-2015 02:32 PM

Even if that signature that the OP put up does look like Trout's, if it doesn't have a reliable MLB holo or come issued from a card company, I wouldn't buy it, IMHO.

I'm sure all of you have seen those lists that show Trout is already among the most counterfeited sigs in baseball today. The fact that his signature is pretty simple, just makes it that much more doubtful. Plus, if you're going to dish out good money for a Trout, why not buy one that has an MLB hologram on it or one that is a signed chase card? At least that way you're much more assured of its authenticity (although maybe still not 100%).

discostu (Mike) is a great artist. Just doesn't look like his work. I'm guessing it was another BO member.

This was actually released by Bowman, not a custom. This card WAS supposed to be produced.

I'm sorry but it doesn't have the look of an official Bowman card. Maybe you didn't have this built, but I believe this to be a custom by one of two people.

Trust me, it's not a custom. Topps have uncut sheets of these Super Proofs and ended up not using them. Then they ended up being consigned to an auction house as full sheets then the winner of them cut them up.

For example, here are some listings:

I understand. Those are for actual cards that were made. I've never even heard of Trout being considered for a autograph in 2011 Draft.

Do you have images of the card before it was cut?
The "turn engine" pattern looks just a little off compared to other Topps issues, that's what stuck out to me.

HOF Auto Rookies 01-28-2015 12:06 PM

I'll see if I can locate it. But, I've seen a ton of no name commons from the same set.
