Has anyone asked SGC for the same grade on a new holder

and get denied?

Since the new holder launch, has anyone submitted their cards for new holders and been told by SGC that it wont be reholdered that same grade but only lower?

That would end all the speculation

Or nobody on this forum has tried it yet. In my opinion SGC is not like PSA in that PSA pretty much says our old holders suck. Pay us to put them in our latest greatest holder so they will bring the most $.

I agree on PSA doing that..but if SGC didnt change standards on the old grades to get them to the new holders then anyone thinking that market prices of the new holders will improve versus before would have a tough sell

I just called them and spoke to a new guy, Izzey, who got some clarification before answering.
They DON'T review cards again on re-holders. They just charge for the re-holder and give the same grade. OF course if they think they made a mistake they will call and handle it as a one-off. But they don't generally review cards when sent in for only a re-holder. The same grade is given as was on the older holder. Hope this helps. Picking up a phone often ends debates.

Thanks..

so if people see new holders getting better auction prices..thats because people love the holder versus thinking the grading is more harsh.

I understand if they are implementing tougher standards (are they?) versus the old holder days, so a 4 now would be harder than a 4 back then...as time goes on there will be more and more holders with tougher standards...but for now .i will bid accordingly..

Please explain to me what grading standards have to do with prices.

Even the biggest PSA supporters/investors just say cards in their slab are worth more. I have never seen anybdy say PSA does a better more consistent job at grading than SGC.

IMHO it is 100% advertising and nothing else. PSA has been awesome at promoting their product. Untill very recently SGC was that lazy stoner guy that is happy with just getting by because they have a better product.

Thanks Leon for the info on how SGC is reholdering their cards.

'
who knows..but there was discussion about having old grades from the SGC holders being not rubber stamped for the new holders. So some people thought it was worth discussing.
