T206 Crawford w/ Bat -- Uniquely Jumbo?

I learned how great a player Sam Crawford was after reading an article somewhere about Ty Cobb (his teammate), and I started looking at his T206 cards, specifically the w/ bat pose. Is it me, or do Crawford's w/ bat cards tend to be more jumbo (larger borders) than most other T206s (and I believe this to be true regardless of back). Any thoughts on this?

Lots of tendencies for certain cards to have larger borders because they were at the top of the sheets.

The ones I find interesting are the wide border cards. Mullen batting is one with a lot of examples.

You can't really tell just looking at it but if you put it in a stack of cards, it's very pronounced.

agreed on the Mullin batting, I had one in a stack of 15 cards last night and noticed it was wider than all of the others. Perhaps it is on the edge of the sheet? I'll post photo later when I get home.

if you could travel back in time 30-40 years, you'd be astounded at how many t206s you see with huge borders.

Ain't that the truth.

I bought t206's when I was a kid and it seemed like most had fat/wide white borders like the Young picture attached. However I have noticed the same trend recently with Crawford batting

In my experience, the 3 poses that turn up most often with wide borders are Mullin with bat, Crawford with bat, and Bender no trees.

I bought this one recently just because the borders are possibly the widest I've seen so far.

Ironically, my blank back (which is hand-cut) is wider than it is tall.
