Who hasn't bought a card on eBay and then sold it for more within a week or two? This happens all the time with art, used automobiles, antiques, real estate, and yes, even baseball cards. Why all the consternation?

Finally, this guy bites on the card, and what does he do? he immediately relists it at double the price with a BIN of $550 to everybody who passed on it however many times in the first place.<BR><BR>Okay, calling him an idiot may have been a little harsh on my part. But it is obvious that this guy has no idea what he's doing. But you're right- nobody is being forced to bid on the card, and it's unlikely anyone ever will.

The price was right and when he relisted the card several weeks later, he made a profit. I certainly agree with you that a BIN of $550 is too high, but like runscott wrote, maybe the seller doesn't know any better. <BR><BR>I still remember a show I attended many years ago where the seller of a 1954 Hank Aaron rookie wanted 90% of book for his card: <BR><BR>"What do you mean?" I asked. "The card has one of the corners clipped off!"<BR><BR>"Exactly!" the seller replied. "90% of it is still there."

I don't think he paid an unreasonable price for the card, and I don't see anything wrong with him listing it for approximately twice what he paid for it. It could be that he IS ignorant of condition, but you are certainly not obligated to exercise the BIN option. Nor is anyone else. I think the basic problem with your original argument is that anyone who attempts to make a profit on eBay could be called an idiot -- especially those individuals who list a BIN price much higher than the starting bid. Think of it like this -- if someone purchased the card for $550, would you still consider the seller to be an idiot?
