Posted By: <b>bill</b><p>I remember going to a store in Detroit Michigan the sport's hobbiest early 70's to a show with about 15 tables in a small area.<br />The next year it moved over to the Troy Michigan Hilton hotel and the convention hall wasn't finished so they had it in the unfinished part of the hotel<br />up and down the hallways.<br />then the next year they finally got to the convention hall<br />and the highlight was a t206 wagner was auctioned off<br />for an gigantic dollar amout something around $3500.00<br />after a few years there they moved over to plymouth michigan to <br />the plymouth hilton where they even had a national any of youse<br />have any memories<br /><br />bill<br /><br />

Posted By: <b>joe</b><p>Yes, I went to the shows in Troy and set up a table at all of the Plymouth shows run by the Toerpes, husband and wife, the show then moved to the Hyatt in Dearborn for a few years, then just ran out. They sold the show to Jim Hawkins, sportswriter for Detroit paper. Mastro, Nagy, Henderson, Lipset, Josh Evans, and many other oldtimers set up at these shows. Posted By: <b>Brian Goldner</b><p>Went to most of the Plymouth shows in the 1970's.<br />As previously mentioned, Lloyd and Carol Toerpe were the Convention Hosts.<br /><br />Actually, the 1st Show in that series, was at the Statler Hilton in downtown Detroit, in September, 1970.<br />I still have the convention program.<br /><br />My favorite memory was from around 1975.<br />Al Kaline was one of the Autograph guests, and received most of the attention.<br /><br />Meanwhile, and i don't recall how this happened, but my dad and i were walking around table to table with HOF'er George Kell.<br /><br />I vividly remember Mr Kell looking at an item, and then looking at me and saying, that he just had to pick that up for Ernie (Harwell). I'll never forget that.<br /><br />For those who might not be aware, HOF Broadcaster Ernie Harwell was also an early collector of Baseball Guides and related material.
