Anyone have a 1992 Orioles Yearbook?

Does anyone have access to a 1992 or 1993 Orioles yearbook - or it could be the 1993 All-Star Game Program? In one of those there was a feature on the Negro Leagues in Baltimore and had a large photo of a pitcher from the Elite Giants named Lefty Glover. I'm trying to get a copy of that photo to do a drawing from. I had whichever yearbook it was many years ago but I can't seem to find it now.

Hopefully someone on here has a copy and can tell me which one it was in.

Thanks, -Gary cieradkowski

I'm giving this thread a bump - I'm still trying to find someone who has a copy of the 1992, 1993 Orioles yearbook or the 1993 All-Star Game program that has the photo of Lefty Glover in it...

The 1993 ASG Program has a nice feature article on the Baltimore Elite Giants on Pages 95-101.....While there are a few pictures (including a team photo of the 1929 team), I did not see Glover mentioned by name in any of the photos (largest photos are those of Leon Day)

Edit to add I did check the 1993 & 1994 Yearbooks (they did not issue a 1992 one) and there was nothing in there about the Elite Giants.......

Thanks for looking Bill. I know I found a large picture of Glover in some publication put out by the Orioles in 1992-1993. I was the graphic designer for the new stadium back then and it was in something given to my by the team. I used it to do a painting of Glover back then and I'd like to do another one but need that original to work from. Wish I remembered what the heck it was...

I hope you find what you’re looking for.

Was Lefty Glover his real name? :p

His given name was Thomas "Tom" or "Lefty" Glover. Early in his career he was also called "Walt" and "Walter" in newspapers, but I'm pretty sure it was misprinted. Pitched in black baseball from 1933 through 1947, mostly with the Baltimore Elite Giants, plus also in Mexico, Cuba and Venezuela. He was a mid-level pitcher, a 4th starter, used in relief quite often.

Threw a no-hitter against a team of white major and minor league players led by Babe Herman in LA in the winter of 1939. Died of TB in 1948.

When I was in art school in Baltimore in the late 1980's I got to know many of the old Elite Giants players as well as fans that saw them play. Glover was a guy many brought up and because there's next to nothing known about his life, I kind of took it upon myself to find out what I could. I am working on a short bio of him for my blog and maybe for the next issue of '21' a baseball magazine I put out, and I want to do a new illustration of him - based on that one photo I used years ago - if I can find it again!
