But I'm glad everyone will get a chance to see it.<br /><br />I don't think we will be doing any registration until Monday, June 4 at the earliest. Scheduled first day of bidding is June 7, but we may push it up if we feel everything is in place. It will all run smoothly when we begin- just not ready today.

Posted By: <b>chris bland</b><p>If minor league cards are not considered rookie cards, then the Buck Weaver Obak card should not be listed as his rookie. <br /><br />I personally disagree with a lot of the "rookie" designations in the auction (For example, a 1928 Carl Hubbell R315 was auctioned by Barry on ebay as a rookie but in this auction a 1933 Sport Kings Hubbell is labeled as a rookie as well) but, but this is a topic where a ton of different opinions exist, and I don't know if any one opinion is right or wrong...

I admit I used the term loosley, partly for marketing but also because we don't really have a unanimous definition of a rookie card. You can disagree with Bancroft's M101-4 being his rookie, yet still bid on it.

If everyone feels this is way off base, I can still edit the website.<br /><br />I used the term rookie in two cases; 1) where there is no debate, such as the E90-1 Jackson; 2) where there is at least some reasonable argument that it was the player's first distributed card.<br /><br />Look at the debate we had recently on the Cobb rookie- we had about ten different candidates.<br /><br />And to add, yes I have recently sold more than one card of a player where I called it a rookie. I try to distinguish between a nationally distributed issue vs. a very minor or obscure one. If you ask me do I know every player's rookie card, no I don't. I still think the N172 is Nichols rookie, and nearly everyone disagrees.

Minor league cards starting with Hancock from 19th century all the way up to 2007 team issued cards should be considered a rookie card of the player. Now if you were to say Derek Jeter "Little Sun" High School card was not a rookie card than that might be debatable. I thnks that Joe Dimaggio's rookie card is his Zeenut card. How about Buck Weaver playing for San Fran in 1910? The Bishop team card and Obak cabinet come to mind. <br /><br />JC

It does not matter that he got paid for three years or so in the minor leagues.... the announcers, the general public, his teammates, etc. will call him a 'rookie' becuase it is his first year in the majors.<br /><br />I treat cards the same way - first major league card is the rookie.<br /><br />
