Posted By: Don J
Did you all see what the N690 1887 KALAMAZOO BATS went for on Ebay this morning? Incredible! I guess Keith and J.. really wanted them

Posted By: Tom Boblitt
Merkle923 is Keith Olberman, formerly of ESPN and currently of PMSNBC.....
Rockythebulldog is a long time contributor to the board who can out himself if he likes........

They have a tenuous relationship at best I think......interesting bidding. Rocky, what's up with these two? Pose differences or uncatalogued versions?

Posted By: Anonymous
The Lyons, Andrews and Casey "cheapies" were reasonable in my opinion, especially being ad-backs. I don't recall ever seeing a McGann or Lyons 3b, but 100k for the pair might flush a few more out market.

Posted By: barrysloate
Lew published his 19th century encyclopedia in 1983. With regard to Kalamazoo Bats in particular, so many new ones have been added to the checklist that his list is obsolete. But the poses looked unusual to me; the bottom line is neither Jay nor Keith had them, or one had what he thought was a unique pose and he protected his investment. That's all you need to know.

Posted By: tbob
Wow, I am hoping these 2 guys don't discover caramel cards! On the one Kalamazoo card, Keith O. wins it for $1700 if not for Rocky and the card ends up going for 43k. Geez, I bet he wishes Rocky had gone to a ballgame or something instead.

Posted By: Ben
I didn't think I'd come out on top when I bid on the Andrews late last night, but lo and behold, my bid lasted all night and it's mine for $1580. For a card with nice corners, perfect photo and clean ad back, that's pretty darn reasonable if you ask me. My first pickup in months. Now, on to finding a way to pay for it

That sort of snipe redundancy is a fail-safe protection in case one of your snipe services fails [it happens].

~ms
Posted By: cmoking
Those weren't snipe bids. It doesn't look like he used a snipe service at all. It looks like he kept thinkng about it and just kept putting in higher prices just in case.

The timing of the bids.
Nov 4 7:58
Nov 12 11:21
Nov 12 22:19
Nov 13 05:00

He's a funny guy (love him on the radio show with Dan Patrick on Fridays), and he has the money - but clearly he doesn't care about how much he spends on these cards otherwise he'd have easily figured out a smarter way to bid.
