19th Century Cards...

In keeping with the theme of genres of a few recent threads, it will be fun to see some 19th century cards. I will start out with a generic cdv circa 1868.

I'll drop a couple on here before the heavy hitters get their pics on here and make everybody really drool.

Some terrific card and cabinets. Love the K-Bats. This is probably my best 19th century, love that there are a few HOF'ers here.

Here are two of mine. The Rehse(?) is one of my favorite cards in my collection. This scan doesn't quite do it justice.

Agreed - awesome collection Jay - never seen Lone Jacks with images that nice before.

oldjudge 06-05-2019 11:44 AM

Thanks Chris. Of the three sets with those images (Old Judges, Gypsy Queens, Lone Jacks) I think the Lone Jacks are the best looking when they have sharp images. Unfortunately, as you said, finding them with sharp images is tough.

trdcrdkid 06-05-2019 11:52 AM

I have over 100 Old Judges, mostly raw, with a preference for sharp images. Here are some of my favorites.

Jerry--Great Cabinets!
David--Those are some great images. I especially like that Kelly bat at side pose. It is much tougher than the traditionally seen bat at 45 degrees.

That is a beauty Gary. Definitely one of my favorite cards in the hobby. Congrats.

Jay - Nice N370 Lone Jack set! What an accomplishment. Are there any other complete sets known?

oldjudge 06-05-2019 10:57 PM

I've never seen another, but I've heard rumors of one.

Peter- That Kelly is my favorite Old Judge card.

Thanks, Kevin. I've had that cdv for about 25 years.

WillowGrove 06-06-2019 06:56 AM

I can see why Gary. I love it too. And I don't know for sure but it seems like his toughest pose to find.
