National want lists

What is everybody hunting come National time?

I've got a handful of T206 wants (Walter Johnson portrait, more some mid grade Brooklyn players, maybe a Cy Young) that I'd like to track down and hopefully a Nap Rucker T3 Turkey Red.

Anybody looking for anything in particular?

Leon 07-02-2010 10:01 AM

want list = any pre-wwII baseball type card I don't have. I am expecting to be shut out again.

Probably won't be going to the National but I'd be willing to compensate somebody(s) well if they manage to pick up anything off of my wantlist for me.

1918 Zeenuts
1910 Eunc Orange Borders
1911 Baseball Bats
w517 minis
probably some other things....

If anyone's interested in keeping an eye out, shoot me an email. Thanks guys,

I'm new to the vintage market--any dealers I should really keep a look out for...or avoid...at the show?

toppcat 07-02-2010 02:18 PM

I'm looking for T206 commons, some mid 60's Topps inserts (only a couple to finish off a set) possibly upgrades to some Topps commons and maybe a tough test card or two and very likely some 30's R cards or even some older E cards if the price is right. Basically I am looking for stuff that is not as efficiently bought online for the most part. I may try to grab some non-BB type cards too for my Topps run.

As I recall you picked up at least one from my table last year.

tbob 07-02-2010 03:34 PM

Will- I have always had great experiences with Gary Nucherino at the Nationals. He has pre-war cards at decent prices and is willing to negotiate, especially if you buy multiple cards. There are several dealers who are very cordial and will deal with you, it's usually a "walk around, examine prices, see if the dealer will bend at all" situation which each collector has to find out for himself. I remember when I first started going to Nationals I just paid whatever the pronounced price was if I wanted a card but after hanging around with some of my Net 54 buddies and watching them haggle prices down, I started it a little myself and it paid off. Good luck and have fun! I think the best part of the National is not the cards but the comeraderie with fellow collectors. :D

Hey Dan- Yes I did and it's still some cards I really like. Actually I got 4 total cards from you that stayed in my collection, including the header card. I had no idea those 4 cards even existed before I saw them at your table. The D311 was just a one-off and was way cool....the others were legitimate cards but super scarce.

I guess I was thinking shut out on ACC cataloged cards.....but I love the ones I got from you. thanks again!! And just as much, or more, I go to the National to party and hang out with friends....

milkit1 07-02-2010 04:40 PM

No worries, good to see you and thanks for returning the favor with the Frederick Fotos!

bobbyw8469 07-02-2010 04:48 PM

I wouldnt mind finding some 1952 Berk Ross PSA graded....noone wants them due to their falling prices (except me).....

National Hopes and Dreams

This is my first national since Parsippany, NJ! What does eveyone think the odds of my finding a Delahanty Cabinet card? Okay then, how about a Roger Connor?

This is my first year back to vintage in like 2 decades. A baseball fanatic who is going for a T206 set amongst other stuff. If anyone wants to meet for one of those emoticon beers - I'm there.

Jewish-collector 07-02-2010 06:21 PM

Tbob - I'm glad you will be able to make it this year http://forum.mydyingbride.org/images...s/beerchug.gif

peterose4hof 07-02-2010 06:24 PM

Reds, Reds and more Reds!

Pre-War: I will be looking for a handful of Cincinnati Reds strip cards that I am missing.

Post-War: I will be looking for a 1949 Eureka Stamp #88 Ted Kluszewski (Anyone here have one?)

Shiny-Era: I will be looking for a box containing a Strasburg card that I can sell and buy a boatload of Cincinnati Reds T-205s and T-206s.

4815162342 07-02-2010 06:58 PM

Question

How long are the lines at the PSA booth? I have a card that I want re-holdered, and thought I would get it done while at the National.

Rich Klein 07-02-2010 07:09 PM

Wow

26 years between Nationals for Peter. And the place they held the 84 National no longer even exists today.

I know I want to pick up the new T-206 book and see what else I find. And I'm sure Alan and I will discuss the hobby over a cold one

For me; I always find some fun things at the Nationals.

Regards
Rich

bbcard1 07-02-2010 07:11 PM

would like to find a 1955 Ashland Oil Charlie Slack in nice condition.

Would pick up a handful of low grade t206 commons to work on my set.

I have instituted a $5 Bill White rule. I am trying to spend $5 on Bll White cards at every show.

Always looking for Marshall cards...will probably try to pick up some Hassan Whiteside cards (2nd round Kings pick).

From new era I always get first and last serial numbers...like 001/100 or 99/99...

Abravefan11 07-02-2010 07:33 PM

William Paterson = Dave Bancroft
E90-1 = Sweeney, Ritchie, and Shean
Boston National T206's for my super set.
Boston National type cards.

Mordecai T204

I hope I can make the show, I'm looking for a nice mid grade T204 Ramly Mordecai Brown.

Home Run Kisses

Although I'm unable to attend the National, hopefully some 1912 Home Run Kisses catchers or 1912 Zeenut catchers will surface at the National.

In addition, if anyone spots any Chief Meyers' S74 colored silks, please email me at vintagecatcher@myfairpoint.net. I'll gladly pay a finder's fee.

Thanks,

Patrick

Careful what you wish for, for being little buggers they are hard to get rid of.

Matthew H 07-02-2010 10:55 PM

I heard you could get crabs and shrimp without having to travel all the way to Baltimore, js.

Knock off some sets

As some may have read in the B/S/T, I need just a few cards to finish some sets in 1923-24 Exhibits, 1931-32 Exhibits, 1933 Exhibits, R303A, R314, R315, W711-1, and hope to make some headway in 1926 Exhibits, E121 Series of 80, Dietsche, Morgan Red Belts, and Postcard Back Exhibits (Set 81-83). Would also like to find some wrappers and some early press pins. Oh, too dream. Good luck to all and hope to meet many of you.

FrankWakefield 07-03-2010 12:09 PM

I'd like to get an email from someone going, who tells me that they've picked up an Old Mill red border T210 series 6 card of Angermeier fielding. I'll dance at their next wedding, will try playing tambourine for them, too.

Pup6913 07-03-2010 02:22 PM

Anyone setting up a table at the show that would be interested in selling some toploaders, screwdowns, and binder 20 ct pockets for tobaccos. Please send me a pm. I need to know ASAP so I can place an order accordingly.

Helmar Stamp Fred toney

I cant make the national this year but if someone could track down a 1911 Helmar stamp of fred toney I would pay well for it. I have been trying to track that card down almost as long as it took me to find his T210 Series 6 card. Thankfully I found the latter. Just shoot me a email at wacturner@hotmail.com if you do. Thanks

William

Howe’s Hunter 07-09-2010 08:21 AM

Just the usual

although at this time, I doubt I could afford to buy anything, but if anyone runs across any T206s with Howe McCormick's stamp on the back, please get a dealers name or any other info, as I will try and contact them when I can make a deal.

If it weren't for the folks on this board, I wouldn't have even half the cards I have now. Thanks to all for the help over the last three years.

Howe’s Hunter 07-28-2010 01:43 PM

As the time draws closer, thought I would bump this up to the top of the list

but didn't realize no one had added anything since I did on the 9th. Just thought the bump might do the thread some good, and maybe bring out some other requests.

FUBAR 07-30-2010 02:06 PM

Well i am unable to go , but i am looking for some MMA national exclusive cards, so if anyone gets any.... feel free to send me a pm.

THE ONLY WAY TO GET A TOPPS HERITAGE STRASBURG ROOKIE IS AT THE NATIONAL INSERTED INTO THEIR PACKS... Could finance your whole trip if you are lucky enough to pull one. I know not alot of guys collect shinies, but if busting one pack could pay for your trip, might be worth a shot in my opinion.
