Does anyone grade B18 Blankets?

Posted By: michelle wise
Hi Everyone! Still somewhat of a newbie here, but am getting a little more comfortable posting. I just picked up a few B18 blankets (cobb, plus a few others) and am looking to get them encapsulated. Is there any particular company out there that grades B18s? Hope someone can help. thanks. michelle

Posted By: hrbaker
Hope they don't charge much for that. Not a fan, looks like a blister pack you would buy a car charger for your cellphone in. Surely someone has a better option. Howver, nice Shoeless.

Posted By: jay wolt
"It looks like GAI's T3 holder."
KEITH - It Is.
Thats their largest holder and they use it for anything their
smaller holders can't fit. Be it Turkey Reds. Swifts Meats, blankets etc...

I was told that SGC's new large slab will be universal and can handle T3's, cabinets, blankets etc... According to Dave Foreman at the Fort, it should be released shortly, they were working on the prototype and figuring out the pricing...jay

Posted By: Tim
I have a related question.

Has anyone here matted and framed any B18s?

My nephew's 1st birthday is next month, and I'm the uncle that gets the kids different gifts. I have a Bill James (my nephew's name is James) B18 that I want to mount, matte and frame. It will make a nice decoration hanging in his bedroom, and it has a value over time, unlike the toys that end up in the garbarge within 6 months.

I'm trying to figure out how this can best be done and wondered if anyone here has done it already. I KNOW that it will end up looking much better than in a grading holder!

Thanks.

Posted By: Patrick McMenemy
Over the years, I have made a few custom frames for my B18s. However, most of my B18s currently are stored in an album that was designed for pictures.

Patrick

Posted By: dan bartenbaker
out of the 160 or so of these i have,i have displayed two groups of about 20 in each frame, with no matting and they are positioned baseball diamond to read the name straight on against a white background. the key is to press cardboard backing against the back of poster board to make them fit tight against the glass or you will get a wrinkled look that is not attractive. the groups consists of one all detroit tigers white and brown infields with the cobbs in the middle, and the other is much more colorful with all different players mostly hofer's and rare variations. i encourage oyher collectors to display them this way as you will get more enjoyment out of them seeing them daily on your baseball room wall. dan
