Buying cards - April 1980
 

This is from an old school newspaper from April 1980 - do you think he was on to something?

Wonder if Bob is still buying. Do you know the area code involved ?

This was done on an individual basis as well as groups of dealers going from town to town - advertising that they were buying baseball cards. From what I understand, they would bring home suitcases full of cards. In the 80's, I would run ads in the local retirement communities newsletters looking for cards.

1980 would have still been a good year to put an ad like that out.

Ten years later you’d have found yourself with a lot of 1988 Donruss commons on your hands.
