January Pick-Up

Was actually a December pick-up but just found room to hang them. A five piece panel set of Winchester fame with a hunting scene on the reverse.

I'm extremely happy to check this Pinback off my most wanted list :D

Mike:
Sweeeet pickup.... Congrats!

Dave:
One of those Blue Satin Dodger Jerseys would look awfully nice draped on that Hanger. You must've had some pretty shrewd search words to find that obscure thing.

Mark,

Thanks.. Search words very simple... "Abe Stark." I am always looking for contextual adds for ball parks and uniforms. For many, searching for "Abe Stark" might have seemed bizarre, until they see images for the bottom of the scoreboard from Ebbets Field. As far the jersey, pretty close guess. This hanger will be used with a Carl Furillo home satin jersey as I suspect "Skoonj" saved Stark a suit on more than one occasion.

Not sure if this belongs in this section or in the autograph subsection, but was pleased to win this in the Hunt Auction that ended tonight.

I've been very slowly working on a collection of line-up cards signed by managers who are in the HOF (regardless of whether they are in the Hall due to their playing career, managerial career or other reason).

This lot includes a Frank Robinson signed lineup card, which fills a spot in my collection.

The lot also includes signed lineup cards from:
Dick Williams (HOF duplicate, so would trade this for another HOF)
Paul Richards
Gene Mauch
Ralph Houk
Jeff Torborg
Darrell Johnson

Luv it Bob!...I like the innovation as much as the piece...that extra wall space was there all along!!!

Hard to notice those Winchester signs when you eyes keep focusing on those Tuxedo signs. Great collection Bob!

Nice Dave...

You're on quite a roll with the unique stadium artifacts. Not exactly "run of the mill" stuff

I haven't picked up a lot lately, but here's one worthy of posting...

Pete Rose Rookie-era Reds Cap with Wilson Tagging, indicating August 1963 manufacture date. Cap remains in amazingly nice shape...

Hey there Mark, great cap!
....but I'm still partial to what's underneath. 😍

I hope you had a nice New Years my friend.

Haha.... thanks Brent.

Yeah, that table was just a temporary prop... albeit a pretty fancy one! ;)

I KNOW you know your stuff, Dave, but how is it you attribute this to old Comiskey Park?

I love hot dogs! :p

Nice addition to my collection. Hails from Beverly Field in California in 1941. Many future AAGPBL greats played there in 1941. Plaque states "Beverly Stadium Championship 1941".

Joe...

Great stuff, and I love the Peck & Snyder Ad Card. The Boater Hat and Thayer Mask are incredible to see portrayed as items currently available for sale.

But two questions....

1. What year is that from (gotta be ancient)

2. What on earth is the doohickey pictured at the lower-right?

vintagesportscollector 01-12-2017 06:13 PM

1882. The P&S add is the back of the trade card in the 3rd picture. The trade card is an 1882 series H804-11 card. I got it because of the great P&S add. I don't know what that thing is on the lower right, and I am not sure I want to know .

Awesome Colgan's Chips Sign

Congrats Bob on picking up that very cool sign.

The advertising that Colgan's Chips created is top of the line, and visually stunning.

Lucky Day

I've been searching high and low for one of these exceedingly rare Tiger ashtrays for years. I stumbled upon this piece in an antique mall in Northville Michigan last week and could not believe my eyes or my luck:D. If one was going to turn up, I suppose it would likely be in Michigan. It's in pretty good condition and fits in nicely with my other Tiger figurals.

Congrats Mike!! I can imagine how exhilirating it was when you first saw it. I dream of stumbling upon rare pieces in Antique malls, but rarely, if ever, do.

Thanks for the kudos fellas.

Paul most folks believe it's 30s or 40s. Here is a thread where it was discussed.

Mike - I've never found anything on my baseball wishlist in an antique store so congrats! :D I have a hard enough time finding anything worth a hoot that's baseball related in antique malls let alone a wishlist item!

Waited up until 3:00am central time to make sure I could fall asleep knowing I had this piece.

Michael- Do you know where these teams are from and/or where the game was played?

ruth-gehrig 01-15-2017 07:47 AM

Thanks guys for the kind words! :)This was in Memory Lane last night. http://memorylaneinc.com/site/bids/b...e?itemid=42275

Hi Gary - From just some quick research so far I believe the "Fultons" are the Fultons Base Ball Club from Fulton Illinois that originated in 1867. They are the only Fultons I can find. I have yet to find any team named the "Jacksons".
