J.L. Sullivan "card"

Posted By: Alan Elefson
Hi-
Edited because Henry Moses on Net54 Non Sports posted that it is indeed a boxer, J.L. Sullivan in the top left corner. I thought it would be neat to leave this post up however to see this odd cabinet card.
Alan Elefson

I am sorry for the odd post. Below is a scan of a multi image cabinet "card" featuring Presidents, actresses, and others (it is posted on the Net 54 Non Sports board where several members have identified images based on cards in their collections. My question is about the first image depicted (top left corner). Do you think it is a boxer? If so, who do you think it might be? I thought it might be a boxer because it appears the man has no shirt and his arms are crossed. To make the image larger, save the image to your desktop and open it. Use the magnifying glass after you open it (it is on my photo viewing software) to increase the size. Any help/information regarding this image/ the whole card would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Alan Elefson
aelefson@hotmail.com

J.L. Sullivan "card"

Posted By: boxingcardman
It came from a Lipset auction with another card, and I traded or sold it off some time ago. It is a sample card with images from N150 likely made by the photographer who shot some N150 poses. Sullivan is the only boxer on there and is shown in one of the four N150 poses. Studios made these cards to show their wares to prospective buyers. There is also a president on there: I think Grover Cleveland is depicted a row or two down of Sullivan.

Posted By: Alan Elefson
Boxing Card Man,
Thank you very much for the information you provided. I do doubt that this one was once yours as I purchased it yesterday at a flea market in Palmer (next to Brimfield MA) for less than 5.00. If it was the one you once owned, it quickly fell out of the hobby (the dealer I bought it from had some old photos, but no sports or nonsports cards). If this is the card you once owned, I would love to know how it ended up where it did. I love flea markets!
Alan Elefson
