Posted By: jay behrens
given that fact that Hofman is a dirt common and Claxton may be a "common" per se, but far from a commonly found card, you will have a hard time fiding anyone accepting your offer. Good luck in your pursuit, This card is on the want list a lot of Zeenut collectors and even casual collectors who don't specialize in Zeenuts.

Jay

My place is full of valuable, worthless junk.

Posted By: Chad
But cards of the Negro Leaguers are my thing. That Claxton played for the Oaks--I'm from the East Bay--makes it all the better. I know I'll most likely never own the card unless I get miraculously lucky or rich, but it--or one of the Bruce Petway cards--is my pot at the end of the rainbow. Just kidding about the Hofman, btw, unless someone really wants to buy it. In that case, I'm incredibly serious. I'll even pay the shipping and insurance and include a top loader for free!

--Chad

Posted By: Chad
That really is a beautiful card. I really can't believe anyone associated with the Oaks thought for a minute Claxton was "Indian" and not "Negro" as they defined the terms at the time. It's just another reminder to me how baseball is a microcosm for our big, messy history, and that these little pieces of cardboard are important. Fun too! Thanks again for sharing.

--Chad

And by the way, why do the freaking Yankees have to win everytime I go to a game?
