Got this privately from an old time collector in Pennsylvania. It has been long rumored to exist, but many collectors debunked it as just rumors. I can confirm it exists, and now it's part of my collection. Circa 1999 there were 9 uncatalogued T206 Proofs of cards that never went into production...this is the 10th pose. Shoeless Joe Jackson.

Mike, are you going to start a Jackson back run?

MVSNYC 04-01-2024 01:23 PM

Hi Sean! Would be cool, but it's only this Blank Back Proof that exists, no other examples with rare backs.

And I think his nose is too long. But well played.

edjs 04-01-2024 02:06 PM

I tried to do a Joe Jackson T211 one year, I’m not so good with the photoshop.

MVSNYC 04-01-2024 02:26 PM

Well, this joke didn't get too far, haha...

We did this April Fool's post about 10-12+ years ago...Wonka did the photoshopping, and a bunch of us (Me, Joe D, etc) played along. It got surprisingly far.

Anyway, would be an epic card, if real. ;)

Not a card, but possibly unique. Finding a baseball player on a gem tintype is extremely unusual, finding a team is unprecedented, to my knowledge. This one is definitely 1860s vintage. Gem tintypes measure approximately 1" x 1". This one is 3/4" x 15/16".

I thought you might like this one, Leon.

Great pick up, Gary. Love the really early stuff...

Low pop Auto Musial

1 of 7 total Pop with a number/Auto Grade I looked at many of his vintage card auto's. Looks like he took his time with this one, in blue pen with perfect placement, so it could just be one of his finest auto.

You could make a locket for it and wear it around! Was that what it was originally intended for?

GaryPassamonte 04-02-2024 02:10 PM

There were albums specifically made to hold this size image. However, I wouldn't be surprised if some found their way into lockets.

A tiny bit of paste remanants on the back equal some nice corners...

Bob, that Hindu Young looks nice. Great pick up. Those mustard sandwiches will taste good as you look at that card.

Very true. Sometimes cards removed from albums are the best preserved

Big mail day for me. I bought the M101-2 Jake Stahl about an hour before I won the original photo by Conlon. I am so excited to have both, so much so that I met the mail carrier at the mailbox so neither would get bent before I got to see them.

I had some bids in on that Young. Nice pickups. I was a little unhappy about not winning anything I really wanted in that auction, so I picked this up the next morning. Somewhere there are some short bordered e121's.

Nice pickup

I love the look of the T205's

jacksons 04-09-2024 09:04 AM

Is there a story/explanation of why they chose to use a batting photo of Cy Young on this issue? He had 490+ wins as an P and a career .210 BA when this was issued!
