Any success with PSA Review?

I have a couple of pre half-grade, high-dollar cards that I believe could make a case for the .5 bump. I intend to reholder them anyway, but was wondering if anyone has had success with the review process. I realize I could crack them out and resubmit (sending the flips in later). But, there's always the possibility of the grader having a bad day.

I haven't played the crack and resubmit game and don't really want to get into that. My goal is to update the holder and possibly get the bump. I don't have plans to sell, but could upgrade someday and this could help.

Possibly try a review and set the minimum at the X.5 grade you want, and if it doesn’t get the bump resend for reholdering? Stinks to possibly go through the process twice, but it covers your bases...

He can request that the card is reholdered if the card doesn't bump. No need to resend.

I have had luck getting cards to bump on review. I used to only crack and submit thinking that is the only way but once I tried the review I was surprised at getting multiple cards to bump a full grade. Post pictures the cards you are wanting to get reviewed and get feedback from other members.

I've always been wary of cracking cards over a few hundred dollars. I know others are braver and with good success, but I don't submit often and the more recent perceived tighter standards with PSA were good reasons not to.

My rule of thumb is to submit cards for Review that have clearly been done an injustice. With that high standard, I've had some good success.

For example, the Jordan below. It was just too well-centered and reasonably tight to be a 7. I was beyond pleased when they blew by my 7.5 minimum grade and took it to a deserved straight 8, and in a new holder (at the time) :)

I've had HORRIBLE luck with reviews. And I like to think I got a pretty good eye. To each their own.

If I were PSA I might grade low on purpose. I wonder how much profit they make off of resubmittals? And what other business makes you pay for a mistake they made the first time? Does that seem odd to anyone else? I love TPG grading. If it were most other businesses, and they made a mistake, they would not only NOT make you pay for their first mistake they would reimburse you for the whole thing.

In fairness, I'm just trying to get the half-grade bump for some older flips. I wouldn't really consider those yo be a mistake. But, I think your point is a good one, Leon.
