I am sure Zach can fill us in on how far it is from Cleveland. Most likely I will go there Sat. Posted By: <b>Griffin's</b><p>According to Yahoo Cedar Point is an hour from Cleveland. Another hour west is Toledo, which is supposed to have a great ballpark. Good diverson on the cluster day of the National.

Posted By: <b>Paul</b><p>I lived in Lambertville, MI in the 70's (on the Toledo border), & went to Cedar Point every summer. Also went to alot of Mud Hens games. Great memories of both. I'd certainly like to try to make that trip next year.

Posted By: <b>cmoking</b><p>The park in Toledo is incredible. I think it is called Fifth Third Field (after the bank, wierd name for either bank and stadium). I was driving by and accidentally heard the game broadcast on the radio...and decided to stop in.<br /><br />Here are a couple of pics I took. The warehouse-looking building is not part of the stadium. But they added seats in the outfield attached to the warehouse. Posted By: <b>Joann</b><p>Cedar Point can be a ton of fun, but weekend days during summer can be the worst time to go. Crowds are horrendous, and the last time my sister went (a few years ago) they literally went on 5 rides the entire day. The rest of the time was spent waiting in lines.<br /><br />Best time to go is weekday in early June, before schools are out for summer. I've done that and walked up to roller coasters, or spent 30 minutes max in line for the newer ones.<br /><br />But that's not feasible w/Nat'l scheduled in summmer, so ... if there is a way for people to go on the Wed or Thursday of that week, you might find you get more for your dollar that way.<br /><br />The Toledo Mudhens are classic. Also, Pittsburgh is quite close too, as a different option. <br /><br />Joann

Posted By: <b>T Engle</b><p>I agree with Joann. It has been quite awhile since I have been up to Cedar Point, but I remember when I went with my school. I waited as long as two hours to ride a single roller coaster!<br /><br />It might have been because there was other schools there as well, but it was just a mess.<br /><br />I am going up there this summer again, and I hope it won't be too crowded.<br /><br />When I was young, my parents would always take me to the Mudhens games but I remember little about them. <br /><br />Now I live only about 25 minutes from Clipper's stadium, and try to go to as many games as I can.

Posted By: <b>jay behrens</b><p>I'm a long time coaster fiend. Contrary to popular belief, weekends during the summer are actually the best time to hit major amuzement parks. Most families do their trveling on the weekends and then do their thing during the weekdays. While school is still in session, then weekdays are the best time to go. When I lived in Orlando, the people I knew that worked at Disney World dreaded workign weekdays in the summer and prefered the weekends because they were slower.<br /><br />I have no illusions about the wait in line, but my coaster count will pass 200 if I can get on even half of them.<br /><br />Jay<br><br>Growing old is not optional, growing up is.

Posted By: <b>Zach Rice</b><p>Cedar Point is in Sandusky and Sandusky is right next to Cleveland, so it wouldn't be far fetched at all to do the National one day and Cedar Point the other. The lines can be horrible, however. You really have to get there a good hour before and wait in line just to get in so you can then run to the first coaster you want to ride and get in line. This way, you can get on a coaster that would usually have a 4 hour wait in under an hour or even less. No matter what the lines are, it's always worth waiting. Cedar Point is the best out there.

Posted By: <b>Paul</b><p>I suppose alot can change since the 70's, but I can remember riding the Blue Streak coaster over & over again with little or no wait. I now remember that was a bad weather day, so we took advantage of the short lines <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14>

Posted By: <b>John S</b><p>Jay,<br /><br />Cedar Point is about an hour and fifteen minutes from the IX Center in Cleveland. I live in the Akron area(about 30 minutes from Cleveland) and would be happy to escort any board members who have an interest in visiting the Pro Football Hall of Fame (which is about an hour drive from hotels near the IX Center). Of course we would have to do this under the cover of night. I promise not to tell other board members that you have an interest in football.
