Murderers Row

Does anybody know who coined this term for the Yankees and what was the first year they were called this?

Has anyone seen it in a Newspaper, on the slug of a vintage photo, or anything?

I found this article that possibly suggests it was used in 1926, not first in 1927, but not sure if its just the writer of this article calling them that or if that indeed was the first year they were called it.

They actually had the same starting lineup in '26 and '27.

The 1925 Yankees finished in 7th place (how the hell did that happen?) so couldn't have started in '25.

1920

Running a quick search, I found an article from 1920 with the "Murderer's Row" being used.

I also know the term was used by the 1929/30 Chicago Cubs as well...although they didnt carry nearly the same firepower as the 1927 yankees

I feel like I read somewhere that Ed Barrow gave them the nickname during a press interview....
