Dodgers 1981 World Champions Ice Bucket

1 Attachment(s)
Was wondering if anyone has seen this ice bucket before. It measures 12" tall, vinyl clad with a plastic insert, and there are no manufacturer markings that I can see. Maybe this was made for other teams as well? Not sure if this was sold or a give-away. I asked the Dodger team historian about it, and he said he had only seen one of these before, several years ago, and didn't know where it came from.

thanks,
Rick

I would guess sold at a Woolworth’s type store, for not a lot of money. In the early 1980’s stadium giveaways were usually pretty limited....mostly caps and little league bats.

I have zero knowledge of this item but this seems to have the feel of a season ticket holder premium or perhaps something given to team employees.

Good luck in your search in finding the origins of this item.

I appreciate the feedback here. I was at the National last year and saw this one and bought it immediately as I had never seen one before, then 15 minutes later found another one at a different dealer's table and bought it as well. Neither dealer knew anything about them, and I started thinking I was going to keep finding them as I walked the National floor, but I never saw another there. Like I said, the Dodger team historian (who has an enormous collection of Dodger memorabilia like this), had only seen one before. Given that there are no markings indicating where it was made or by whom, I was guessing it was a give-away, maybe at a function celebrating the 1981 championship, rather than an item sold at a store. Hoping someone on the forum may know.

thanks,
Rick
