baseball fan real or fake

http://www.ebay.com/itm/380435914940...84.m1423.l2649 i had seen this and was wondering if anyone knows anything about it? is it real or fake?

Knowing Bryan Dec, I would be surprised if it is a fake. He sells lots of vintage nice stuff. Have never seen one like it before.

Not having a real one for reference, I don't see an obvious problem with it. The cut is factory-quality and the graphics are sharp and crisp. With most homemade counterfeits of round or other un-rectangular items, the cut will be less than professional (handcut-- as opposed to factory die cut) and the graphics will be rough and/or washed out.

Bryan is one of the good guys. He will stand behind anything he sells 100%, guaranteed. He is also extremely knowledgeable. I think it's good too (from the scan). I might add he is a good hobby friend and I enjoy hanging with him at shows too.

i might consider buying it because its such a differnt piece i would like to find out more about it.

If the seller is reputable as folks here say, I would guess that it's genuine.

I've seen this fan before-- I don't mean this exact one for sale. It is seen from time to time, but is rare and desirable. Souvenir fans like this were popular in the early 1900s and late 1800s, and the 'Fan for a Fan's have been posted on this board before. The standard style is a graphical cardboard top attached, usually stapled, to a wooden stick.

Seller looks reputable to me. Will make mention though that I remembered seeing at REA: http://www.robertedwardauctions.com/...05.html#photos
not sure which is good - or both - the ebay with blue background or the REA with black background

I have never seen one of these glued before. Could be real, but I have always seen these stapled. Would love to see any non-stapled examples, if there are any.

Heres another at REA in blue - but has writing on verso - one on ebay does not appear to have such printed material on back

hmm.....after looking at it some more I do have some concerns (as are being stated). Now, that being said, that is why when you buy from someone like Bryan you have no need for too much concern. If it were sold and was found out to be bad Bryan would take care of it.

It could be good, with paper adhered on back? covering printed material.
or maybe they made with both printed and non-printed backs,
and in both black and blue,
and staple and glue,
and two rhyming lines for you
err 3

from all the research i have done the stick is suppose to be stappled to the fan and you can see the missing paper at the bottom where i believe it might have been ripped off the stick.

The seller states that in the description.

" and there is some glue residue on the back from where the wooden handle was once attached. Although the wooden handle is period to the fan, there are no staple holes in the fan, but there are staple holes in the wooden handle, and it could be reattached if desired."
