Anyone following Mile High and Sterling tonight?

I figure since they are both sponsors it is cool to talk about them. I know it is early, but how is everyone doing? I'm up on 5 lots from Mile High, but done with Sterling (no offense Lee). With as fast as the clock keeps re-setting, it might be a long night. Then the next auction (are they a sponsor?), and then LOTG. It is going to be a long few days. Hopefully I will have something fun to post in the April pickups? Anyway, just looking for something to talk about while waiting out the night.

Mile High

Still winning one lot in Mile High. I'm going to bed and I will check on it in the morning.

Ronnie73 03-22-2018 08:38 PM

I could use a T206 Plank but unfortunately right now is not the right time. :(

botn 03-22-2018 08:41 PM

I am saving all my money for Candiman's April auction.

Leon 03-22-2018 08:54 PM

With bids on around 190+ individual lots I will be watching and bidding this evening. High on one Buchner Gold Coin right now...

joshuanip 03-22-2018 09:00 PM

Got one left on mile high.

Couldn’t wait and bought an appetizer on eBay. There was a Cy Young mello mint I couldn’t pass up.

Got a few on lotg. So I can sleep tonight and see what happens tomorrow.

Dude, if that is your appetizer, I'm coming to your house for dinner!

Sean 03-22-2018 09:32 PM

Joshua, a Cy Young Mello Mint? What are you going for in Mile High that will top it?

joshuanip 03-22-2018 10:03 PM

No. The mello was higher dollar value than what I’m bidding for.

I meant the appetzer for more of satiating my auction anticipation. Haha.

Hi Ed. How about lunch next month with 20 other guys instead. Haha.

Just woke back up, not quite as bad as Leon with only around 125 lots with bids, won a pair already, still high on a few and room on a few more.

Just won 3 lots at Sterling. Thanks Lee! Got a pair of T201s and a T207. Nothing amazing but fills some holes.

Stampsfan 03-23-2018 01:22 AM

Just got back from playing hockey tonight, and I'm still winning one lot with Mile High. Hoping it sticks.

sterlingfox 03-23-2018 05:56 AM

How the heck did that Doolan PSA 2 Mello Mint end at over 5k with juice in MHCC? Are Mello Mints the new Pirate back? That's way higher than a Red Cross would sell for!

Bliggity 03-23-2018 05:57 AM

Looks like three of my bids in Mile High held up...all from the dairy.

Quite easy and not all that surprising. There are a couple people seriously building the set and who are down to needing only a handful of cards, at least 1 of them I know still needed the Doolan. Combine that with it being extremely difficult even by mello mint standards and you have 2 people who are all in. By contrast I picked up the Shean mello mint for under $200 including buyers premium.

I also got the Nadja Bemis for my set.

From MH.. I always thought this was a cool card.....

bobbyw8469 03-23-2018 07:36 AM

I won one single lot. While they were a lot of deals that seemed to be overlooked due to the over abundance of 65's all through the auction, the super deals disappeared throughout the night. There were still good deals. But not like there was.

mechanicalman 03-23-2018 09:44 AM

I won the '49 Paige. After reading a biography on Satch while on vacation, I'm simply enamored.

Sean 03-23-2018 10:05 AM

I got one of the Dockman Frank Chance cards. I needed something goofy. :)

Picked this up as part of my Baltimore team sets from Sterling. Guess I won by default, no other bids....that's the way I like it!

And here I was up worrying about getting these. You must of been on pins and needles waiting for the auction to close. I have to say, though, I am glad to have got these at the final hammer price. I think $300 for the Lobert was a steal, and Howe, well how can you go wrong with that beauty? I teased my wife constantly when she was pregnant that I was going to name our son Gordie while she was in recovery. Needless to say, I didn't, as I am still alive to recount that story. :D

Ha. Yes, after reading the eloquent description of the centering, I was hooked! ;)

I've heard of guys spending their pension and/or 401(k) money on a boat, but never on a baseball card. Nice pick-up. Congrats! If I bought that card, I'd have to live on ramen noodles for the rest of my life.

Bicem 03-23-2018 11:28 AM

Whoa, great Plank.

Would be worth it Derek!

NK. And the generic kind too.

Nice Plank Ryan.

After that, I'm sheepishly showing my win that hung on. Not pre-war baseball, but a winning anyhow.

Over the years I've only won a couple of items from MH, but I will tell you that my bid for the Clancy exceeded the final price. Given the shilling that we rightfully complain about, I want to call out honesty and integrity.

Rhotchkiss 03-23-2018 12:10 PM

Ed, that is a great looking T216. Total steal at $300.

familytoad 03-23-2018 01:19 PM

Awesome

Mile High had some incredible cards that I was under stealth watch.
I was outbid on the OBAK lot that I really wanted. How’s this for a lame excuse, I got lasix eye surgery yesterday and had to have my eyes closed during the evening...even during the long morning. Not being able to see the website saved me from bidding! I would have tried another bump or two, maybe. They weren’t inexpensive...

Congrats on a true iconic card, Ryan!

Even before my surgery, I couldn’t see:o spending that much on a card, even if it is one of the greatest of all time!

Ryan, congrats and omygosh! I'm looking forward to seeing this beauty up close at the mid-Atlantic get together you are hosting on April 28th.

I absolutely had to win this E101 Jennings in Mile High to replace this badly-creased E101, which is currently the worst-looking card in my back run of this Jennings pose (sorry for not knowing how to size these cards better):
