One of my favorite players - one of those guys who left an enormous mark on the game that remains today, even though he wasn't a very good player. Discovered his mud along the banks of the Delaware River, not far from where I live.

Looking forward to following this thread. :)

Frank, how old is your mud?

I've seen pieces on baseball broadcasts about equipment managers mudding the balls, but have never seen a container of the mud. Is this still the brand of choice for Major League Baseball?

Ed, as far as I know, Lena's mud is a monopoly yet today. I'm not sure it is strictly a family business now, but for a couple of generations if you were a direct descendant of Mr. Blackburne, you fate in life was predetermined,.......
you were a Mud Baby.;)

The reference added suggests that perhaps all the Mud Babies are not direct descendants, but the company has remained privately held and remains the exclusive supplier of the product to MLB.

Thanks. This is one of the rare instances where I actually think the T205 looks nicer than the T206.

I do believe it was either the discovery or history channel that did a program on it. I know also that Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe did one also.
