Working vintage cards to today's youth wherever I can...

I'm a high school English teacher and I teach eleventh graders. We're beginning our literature unit on literature between 1880-1910. Whenever I begin a unit, I make a power point and lecture to them about what's going on in the US because that's usually from where authors get their inspiration.

Anyway, as I was making my power point, I worked in baseball and the fact that the National League started in 1876. I like to put pictures of the topics in my power point so today I included a photo of an 1869 Peck and Snyder of the Reds!

Unfortunately, my students weren't impressed. Oh well I tried. Thought I'd share.

Always worth a try, maybe one or two of them had their interest piqued...u never know. Props for trying.

Great idea . My wife is also a teacher , 3rd grade and every year she reads a couple of stories related to baseball and cards. Houns & me , and one of the others from that series. She always asks for my Wagner t206 to take to class so I let her to let the kids see up close and personal . Yes it's a reprint ! The kids always seem to be interested and when she finishes each book I try and get some cards in the kids hands . Keep trying and even if only a couple enjoy it the hobby will continue to grow. too bad

That's too bad about the lack of interest of the 11th graders. Had it been an Iphone app with the Peck and Snyder as the front page there would have been huge interest. Nice try, which is all we can really do, and thanks much....
