T206 Harry & Matty Mcintyre (Mcintire vs. McIntyre)
 

Posted By: <b>Robert</b><p>The T206 set has 2 McIntyre's, Matty & Harry. But should Harry's last name be spelled McIntire??? I have checked the SCD and Lipsets book and see no mention of this card being an incorrect spelling. Was there a Harry Mcintyre and a Harry Mcintire???<br /><br />To furthur confuse the issue the SCD under Fan Craze "National" says that the card listed as Harry McIntire is misspelled and should be McIntyre. <br /><br />I can not find a Harry McIntyre anywhere else as a baseball player.<br /><br />And to make matters even worse the SCD under T204 has a Harry Mcintyre but it should be Matty because the card shows Matty and he played for Detroit. Harry McIntire played for Brooklyn and Chicgo Nat'L.

Many Scots migrated to Ireland before coming to America, and typically their names underwent numerous variations in spelling along the way ...
