Heritage Wins

If anyone would care to post their Heritage wins this weekend, myself and others would love to see them. Always fun to see what fellow board members pick up.
I was blanked.

My first n300 HOFer...bid stuck from quite some time ago.

Jobu 11-06-2015 09:32 AM

Nice card Steve, I need to pick up an N300 one of these days.

I hope someone here won the T206 Red Hindu McGraw, that was a very nice price on that card. I allllllllmost placed another bid or two at the end but for some reason I decided to sit tight.

gnaz01 11-06-2015 09:50 AM

Finally!!!

I think this one is fine!!

midmo 11-06-2015 10:07 AM

I picked up an E95 Cobb. It was a bit of an impulse bid, but I've always liked this card so was excited to get it.

Stonepony 11-06-2015 10:45 AM

Really nice Justin

oldjudge 11-06-2015 10:54 AM

Great card Steve. Mayos are underpriced. Nice copies are scarce given the black borders and backs. High grade examples are nearly impossible.

Picked this up, thought it went for a steal. Love the color and the image.

paul 11-06-2015 11:06 AM

I picked up the 1926 Sports Co. Walter Johnson and the Old Judge Harry Stovey. I guess I'm now rooting for Stovey to make the Hall of Fame.

Problems copying photo but got the 1921 E121-80 Frank Baker cards. The J Franklin Baker variety will be for sale and the Frank Baker will be crossed over to SGC.

Joshwesley 11-06-2015 12:17 PM

That CJ joe Jackson is ridiculous.. And a 1914 to boot

Is that a 6 figure card?

iowadoc77 11-06-2015 12:18 PM

wow!

Mission accomplished. Beauty of a card!

Ted Bond Exhibits

Adam,
Nice pick-up on the Bond Bread Williams Exhibits!!

That is one "extremely tough" card to find. As a VERY dedicated Ted Williams collector, I have seen 3 for sale in the last 15 years and have purchased the other two.

Dave

Bicem 11-06-2015 12:47 PM

Nice Jeff!

You should probably sell me some postcards to help fund.

sforaker 11-06-2015 01:23 PM

Congrats Jeff on the great '14 CJ Joe Jackson. That is one heck of a card.

MVSNYC 11-06-2015 01:26 PM

Jeff, super card. congrats.

milkit1 11-06-2015 01:36 PM

If anyone wins the big sovereign t206 lot I could sure use the tinker portrait :)

clydepepper 11-06-2015 01:37 PM

I missed out on the OJ Monk Cline. I was interested in that particular card since he played on the original professional team in my town, the 1885 Columbus (GA) Stars.

I'll keep trying...

E94 Cobb (Green) PSA5

I was one confirmation click (w/finger hovering over the enter button) to upping the bid on that E94 Cobb (Green) PSA5 - literally with a minute remaining before 10:30PM CST extended period cut .. and I hesitated. Even with the BP and tax, I think it would have been a good buy and nice pick-up but I took an indecisive pill and it kicked-in right about then.

One of those "mixed feelings day-after" things. Not sure if my re-raise would have taken or not, but oh well. Congratulations if you were the winner! Nice card!

Glad you weren't trying to corner the market! As I said, I'd been after one for a long time. The VCP on this card is...nothing. Never been indexed. The PSA pop is four. The SGC pop is two.

calvindog 11-06-2015 04:34 PM

Thanks all for the kind words!

MattyC 11-06-2015 04:40 PM

Jeff, amazing once in a lifetime card, must be thrilled and so happy. Great work reeling that in, sir.

gnaz01 11-06-2015 05:14 PM

Spectacular card, Jeff!!!

Michael Peich 11-06-2015 06:14 PM

Jeff--What an acquisition! Spectacular card, and I know you will enjoy it.

Cheers, Mike

Did Shoeless Joe ever play in the majors without shoes?

Joe_G. 11-06-2015 08:43 PM

Wow Jeff, I never comment on 20th century cards, but that is flat-out impressive. Congrats!

btcarfagno 11-06-2015 08:51 PM

Yeah I pretty much passed out when I saw that Jackson.

What did I miss?

Tom C

Jantz 11-06-2015 09:11 PM

Nice card Jeff

If it was Certified High End, then I would be more impressed. ;)

Finally got a PSA 7 (again). None higher, as they say.

thenavarro 11-06-2015 10:29 PM

Nice stuff guys, congrats on the pickups. Been waiting patiently (ok, impatiently) on this auction ever since I got the catalog. Ended up being a bitter auction night for me. I was the underbidder on an incredible 1924 Notre Dame team signed photo that included the Four Horsemen, and I was the underbidder on a 1920's autograph baseball signed by Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, John McGraw, Kennesaw Landis, Ring Lardner, Nick Altrock and another.

And because those two lots went later than many others in extended time, I was not able to shift my funds around to other items that I would have bid higher on compared to what they sold at.

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. (at least tonight LOL)

Mike's situation is a perfect illustration of why lot by lot closing sucks for consignors

For those who know E98's, this color combo is almost impossible. I've been after this one for years...

Yes it is a perfect illustration of half of the debate.
