T206 Mathewson variation?

Posted By: David Davis
The Library of Congress site shows 2 - T206 Mathewson pitching cards. One has the NY logo on the sleeve, and one does not. Is this a legitimate variation? Does anyone else have one like this?

T206 Mathewson variation?

Posted By: daryle
Does Matty have on the same color cap in each? Look at Mattys cap on each card. There are two cards of Mathewson in pitching pose in T206. One with dark cap and one with white cap. The "NY" logo is on his sleeve on the one with the dark cap----no "NY" on the white cap variety.

Posted By: David Davis
Now that you mention it, his face is different also. Is it possible that one of the cards is from a different set, and they have the wrong back depicted?

T206 Mathewson variation?

Posted By: Steve Dawson
I just looked at the cards on the LOC website, and the one with the NY logo on his sleeve is the dark cap (Piedmont 350 back). The other one, the white cap version, does not have the NY sleeve logo, and is a Piedmont 150 back.

Both are T206s, just different cards in the set (Matty had three different cards in the set).

Steve

T206 Mathewson variation?

Posted By: daryle
I haven't looked at the Library site to see if they maybe from different sets but there are subtle differences in the two Mathewson pitching T206 cards (face, uniform sleeves, etc,etc...)
