Grading Co. PRO & CSA

Posted By: Robert
I was stupid enough to buy 2 CSA graded cards about 7 months ago and both cards where trimmed. Never bought a PRO graded card because I was warned "Never go PRO". But I did recentley buy a PSA graded "5" 33 Goudey Hornsby and it was definetly trimmed becasue it was almost 1/4" short. My question is this are there any legitimate PRO or CSA cards out there or is it only scammers?

Thanks

Grading Co. PRO & CSA

Posted By: dennis
a lot of the cards these 2 "grade" are rejects of psa/sgc/scd/gai/beckett or known trims sent in by the owner, all this said, some people just aren't educated that these 2nd tier graders are worse than no grader at all.i would not trust pro or csa to even be able to tell a reprint t206 or goudey let alone more obscure pre war cards!

Grading Co. PRO & CSA

Posted By: Glenn
I read an article online a couple of years ago (can't find it now; maybe someone else has a link to it) from a collector who claimed to have data for a very large, more or less random, sample of PRO graded cards from various ebay sellers sent to PSA for crossover. I don't remember the exact percentage, but I believe it was right around 95% came back "Evid Trim". If we assume PSA was guilty of no false positives or false negatives in these cases, we can estimate that approximately 5% of PRO cards have not been trimmed. Gotta love those odds.
