Which Vintage series looks the most beautiful in your eyes?

I know this is a highly subjective question, but hope members can look forward to hearing about/seeing some gorgeous cards. : )

Matvoo 08-31-2014 07:33 PM

Knew Your username was simalar nice to see ya on here also

Matvoo 08-31-2014 07:34 PM

And to answer the question t206

paul 08-31-2014 07:37 PM

Either N162 or T3.

bobbyw8469 08-31-2014 07:52 PM

No offense to the tobacco collectors, but the 1953 Topps set is pretty sweet!

exitmusicgreen 08-31-2014 07:53 PM

Matvoo, likewise, buddy :D

Wow.. the T3s literally look like works of art. Reminds me of ukiyo-e "shin-hanga" woodblock prints from around that time.

quinnsryche 08-31-2014 07:57 PM

T3 by a long shot

HalChaseCollector 08-31-2014 08:02 PM

T3, T206, and 1963 topps

I've never really liked the look of the T3's, they just...bore me. I like the more 'cartoony' sets...Delong, Tattoo Orbit, and '49 Bowman. I mean, look at that!

T210's and 2nd place isn't even close to the beauty of a T210. This card has a amazing red border and a very cool Y shaped hole punch. Also try and tell me the FTW on the uniform of this card doesn't bring out the little kid in you and put a smile on your face.:D

Ghumbs 08-31-2014 08:20 PM

T3, T206, and 1953 Topps. I didn't care for the T3s much until I saw one in hand. The color and detail is uncanny.

cardsfan73 08-31-2014 08:28 PM

Old stuff: T3, T205 & 1935 Diamond Stars.

Newer Stuff : 1954 Bowman, 1956 Topps & 1967 Topps.

tbob 08-31-2014 08:35 PM

Uncanny resemblance. :D

I have always loved Black and white photography so I am oartial to The E121 sets. It is like the classic photography of Ansel Adams. Some may not find it very interesting but I do.

Jay Wolt 08-31-2014 08:47 PM

I'm w/ the majority as T3's have my vote

For pre-war? T3 gets my vote, also. I love the T206 set, don't get me wrong. But the T3 set is the Rocky Marciano of the baseball card world. No matter what it goes up against, it's going to win.

These are simply exquisite.

Yes, the T3s are huge. They really aren't cards.

But they get my vote as well. :)

Luke 09-01-2014 01:09 AM

E95, T3, E121, '52 Topps are my top 4 I think.

Then T206, CJs, and Diamond Stars. All of these have their moments and great cards, but there are some clunkers as well.

2. N162

Much thanks to all the members who have offered their thoughts, and in some cases, pics. Wish they'd make modern cards like this.

Great topic. So many opinions on that matter. I mean for myself a few sets that I love are

T3's are stunning, but don't seem like cards. I love the N162's like so many other's have mentioned.

1948 Bowman Basketball (but I have my own selfish reason for that) :D

Though a little large, these get less love than they deserve. Beautiful thin stock "cards".

vthobby 09-01-2014 04:40 PM

Kubiak....

Ted,

That is very rare. It is the first one I have seen with a Kubiak attached to the lower right corner. Usually the Kubiak/Miller combo comes with the Kubiak on the lower left! :D

Peace, Mik:)

For standard size cards...my choice is the E101 set. Tough to beat the colors in the sunsets in this set.

Agree with most but think that T212 deserves a nod

I gotta give a shout out to T202 as well. For pure aesthetics, I vote N162, but T202 are a total package- art/portrait/early action shots and a bunch of fun info on the back to boot.

Also love- Goudeys/Diamond Stars, T206, T212, E93/E95, and many more. I'm in the minority and am not too in to T3. Definitely beautiful, but they just don't do it for me... yet:D

steve B 09-02-2014 08:57 AM

I really can't decide. It's also one of the few areas where my likes are "normal"

N162s are nice, and usually look nice even when they're a bit beat up.
But I don't have any yet they just seem expensive.

T3s are very nice, some of the poses look really odd though.
And a really beat T3 doesn't look anywhere near nice.

I'm partial to T204 also, have one sorta ok one. Another set that's fairly expensive especially for nice ones.

If only someone had done a set with N162 style art T3 size and with a T204 style border.

The other sets I'm partial to probably won't get any votes beyond mine.
