T206 Newspaper Advertisements -- To Frame Or Not?

Posted By: T206Collector
I recently acquired two full newspapers from 1909, which have advertisements for Hindu cigarettes and featuring T206 baseball cards. I would like to display these, but would, obviously, have to cut the newspaper to put them in frames. In addition, I'd have to find acid free backing and UV protected glass to keep them looking the same as they do now. Anyone have any success in framed newspapers? Or think I shouldn't cut the newspaper to frame the advertisement? Suggestions? Comments?

T206 Newspaper Advertisements -- To Frame Or Not?

Posted By: greg
I have a framed copy of the 1918 Boston Globe announcing the Red Sox as World Champions. It has been placed in a sleeve mounted to a backing, which sits perfectly behind the matting. Fortunately, it is the front piece so it does not need to be folded other than how it was folded in 1918.

I would recommend not cutting your newspaper. I would love to display the full page of Ruth on the back page of my newspaper, but can't...so I keep the back accessible for when, or if, I want to look at it. You may want to just keep your paper protected in a sleeve.

Hope this helps,
Greg

Posted By: T206Collector
...I've decided to go with an archival storage binder, which allows me to view the newspaper in full whenever I want, and then put it back in the shelf when I am done looking.
