Goal obtained! 200 EPDG's

Just over 2 years to get to the goal of 200 unique El Principe de Gales with the purchase of a Mr Schlafly last week.

Was hoping I could get there by the end of this year, lost some hope in April, then won a few big lots to help close the gap. Then finished 6 months ahead of my plan.

Thrilled........how much farther can I go? Got any for me? ;)

Thanks Billy. Immediately one of my favorites in my collection. Sorry it went through eBay, I didn't see the B/S/T thread first.

Really nice group of the RARE players from the E121 Series of 80 set. The New York players were late additions to the set and are nearly impossible to find. A group this size and w/ good eye appeal is almost unheard of...

Wow Rhett!!!

If you don't mind me asking, were those an AH purchase or did they come from a collectors personal collection? Please don't tell me they came from a flea market or yard sale :).

edjs 07-06-2016 07:51 PM

Rhett,

You never fail to impress.

I've been wanting one of these Weaver postcards for a while now. I was able to pick it up in the latest Bagger's Auction and I'm very happy to finally add it to my collection! (The overprint back is a plus too!)

Nice. It looks like Buck was popular with the ladies. I love the style of those old composite images.

Another great start to the month guys...awesome cards already shown.

I haven't posted in the pickup threads too much lately, but I have acquired some new things that I like a lot.I especially like the crisp photo of Hack...enjoy:p :

Bicem 07-08-2016 06:22 PM

Awesome image on that Hack Toad!

Great Buck postcard too Tom.

joeadcock 07-09-2016 10:37 AM

Agreed Jeff

Cool Hack in SGC holder

familytoad 07-09-2016 12:59 PM

Thanks Frank and Jeff....

Amazing that Hack was 31 yrs old in the photo, looked 50 and died at the young age of 48.

He was fresh off the incredible 190 RBI season with .356 batting average and 56 HR..
The next seasons he played (4) combined he barely reached those totals.

He was allegedly a heavy drinker which took its toll in a severe way. He peaked during the big hitting years of 1929-1932 then withered into obscurity. He didn't make the HOF until 1979. A tragic story overall.

It's one of the reasons I collect baseball cards...the history of the game and it's players is fascinating!

T202s are underated for sure. Still pretty reasonable to pick up.

Thanks,
