Searching for my grandfather's baseball card
My grandfather, Wally Kimmick, played in the major league between 1919 to 1926 for St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Philadelphia. I'm trying to find his baseball card. I'm told he had a 1924 Zeenut card and a 1929 Zeenut card. I've been looking for years and was hoping someone in this forum might be able to help me. My 88 year old mother (Wally's daughter) has never seen his baseball card so it would be amazing for my family to find one. Thank-you!

I did a quick google search and found this image. I am not a zeenuts collector so I will let others comment but I think it's dang cool that your grandfather played Major League Baseball. Hopefully someone has a card of your grandfather that they will be willing to donate to the family or sell you.

There are a few listings on Ebay team photos where he is clearly identified.

Great story...
I found this website 3 years ago while searching for my great/great grand dad’s tobacco card... Been hooked ever since. Great job! |
Got one, thanks. Very happy, glad I found this forum.
|
He had one, thanks.

Send me your address and I'll send this one out gratis. Not high grade but you can't beat the price. The card shown earlier in this thread is my personal copy from my website.

Looks like he threw the baseball right through the card! And kudos for generosity! |
Just wanted to post how much I love this thread and Rhett's generous offer. :) So glad the OP was able to find a card of his grandfather.

This has been one of my favorite posts recently. Thanks OP and glad you are getting g-pa's card.
Rhett, you are amazing. Fantastic example for us all. It does look like he threw the ball through the card. Lol |
Really cool thread. Amazing generosity. I'd like to hear the daughters reaction when she see her father for the first time on a card.
|
@Rhett Yeakley - I hope you have some especially good karma come your way in the near future for offering him his Grandfathers card.

Wow! If this is not the best vintage card site on the planet, I don't know what is. Great story and great members! It is super cool we have members who would do that.

That was an awesome thread. BTW, I had a great, great-uncle who played a little ball in the majors, and I don't have a card of him. I wonder if someone would be so kind to send a card of him from the era he played. His name was George Ruth. I think he played for a New York team. He had a nickname, but I can't remember what it was. Someone want some good karma?:D

I have a card of Mr. Ruth, but I found it in an attic of my great grandfather's chiropractor and need to sell it to pay for my horse's braces. God Bless.
P.S. I am not an expert. |
Nice gesture. Thanks for paying it forward!!

The OP originally contacted me at VCP and I directed him here. I knew with Z's basically never selling on eBay or auction one of you here would be able to help him out. I talked to him on the phone at length and glad he got taken care of....outstanding community.
