Cards that you hadn't noticed being odd until recently

I've gotten so used to looking at vintage cards over the years that I sometimes overlook a funny or odd aspect about them. Here is a card I just noticed...Jim has a growth that oddly resembles a miniature sized base runner coming out of his pitching arm.

Show some more that have something off-kilter about them.

A lefty, his pitching hand also looks more like a right hand.

Not sure what is going on with Ping here, but it looks painful.

The weird thing to me about this picture is that it looks like the tip of his fingered have been cut down.

You have him confused with Mordecai Brown...

Pretty sure Stubbe is catching a baby falling from a window.

I saw right away what you are talking about . Stared at it for a few more minutes. I think the hand is just so twisted around that it looks like a right hand on a left arm. Then, admittedly, I tried doing the same thing with my left hand. After a couple minutes of failure I remembered due to a couple shoulder surgeries, my left arm doesn't go that direction anymore. But, trying it with my right arm/hand, it's possible...just awkward.

Very convincing pitching pose.

GasHouseGang 09-20-2018 07:14 PM

Yeah, he should have at least taken the ball out of his glove!

Aquarian Sports Cards 09-20-2018 08:55 PM

knowing the Mets he threw the real ball and that's a rubber decoy...

Just about every Eddie Collins caramel card has something weird going on with it.

I noticed how goofy this 1920 Zeenut is many years ago, but I have never shared an up close scan...I perceive this perspective to be quite deceptive.

Phil Rizzuto. Two z's in his last name, six fingers on his right hand.

Nice catch. Maybe it was National add a digit and letter day when they created this card.

Also - is that a partial bat on the right border?

How about the Bambino following a massive head/neck injury and a face-flattening procedure?

That is probably the bat of one of Cox's normally proportioned 1920 Zeenut friends getting in on the action.

Here is one I just discovered a few months ago and posted on another thread...Ruth is both pitching and batting.

Maybe that is why he had to Retirado.

I see he is also in the midst of blowing out his right knee. That is an impressive image.

This is football but this card has struck me as weird recently. I wonder why Topps would cut of a quartebacks most important attribute, his throwing arm?

When Mr. Calvin saw his card, he must've been thinking, "Seriously, Topps, this is the best action shot you could find????"

On this Breisch-Williams card, Malachi Kittridge's right hand actually belongs to Bill Dahlen:

Here is one that I have never thought twice about, but just looked at it tonight and realized that Elmer appears to be wielding a toy bat.

That’s his palm, but admittedly, it does look a lot like an extra digit.
