conservation at it's best!

MVSNYC 10-02-2019 06:23 AM

Wrinkles have disappeared too. Where is this card from?

samosa4u 10-02-2019 09:41 AM

When somebody gets a pen and writes on a card, the ink gets absorbed into the deeper layers. If you soak it, the water will not be able to reach these layers. It's amazing how this person managed to clean it up so well. I mean, this card was soaked in some chemical solution and you can tell just by looking at the borders, but again, I don't think soaking alone can clean the card up so well. Other steps were definitely taken to take off those pen marks.

Oh, and how do you think this card will look like in the future? I bet the paper is going to one day turn all brittle and crack, crack, crack.

GasHouseGang 10-02-2019 10:19 AM

I was thinking the same thing. How do you get out ink soaking a card in water?

Spot On !! One day, if it hasn't already happened, a card will crumble in a holder, most likely a Newport Beach Holder.

Better late than never! You were on card vacation, so you have a good defense. :)

Dear David M

Since my gonewithstain discovery I did alot of homework and with just google info out there your already 51% in the know. The chemicals they useing are simple.

Conservation is a large fork in the road for this group it seems :>

I am not suprized not one person in this room admits to sending in cards to gonestain -- plenty of guys in the know but noone here uses that service I guess.
