Outstanding Aaron!

dspuria 02-11-2022 08:11 AM

Thank you Jeff.

Notice that the photo shows him with a Jax Braves hat, which they obviously changed to Milwaukee on the card (same with Mathews). Topps invented photoshopping.

Love that Aaron Jacksonville photo!

Both Aaron photos are awesome.

A lot of fun to see the two Aaron photos. Thanks for sharing.

I did not see this posted. So, here's one with Gus Zernial after six home runs in a three-game stretch in 1951, one of my favorite cards of all time.

Neither the photo nor card is mine.

Republicaninmass 05-25-2022 03:24 PM

He hit #7 following that photo

Michael B 05-25-2022 08:20 PM

They changed Zernial's eyes for the card.

Thanks for posting...with the tape visible in the photo, we now finally know the secret behind the gravity defying balls!

So glad to have found this thread. I have a Type 1 used for Jackie’s 50B and a Type 1 used for Charlie Gerhhinger’s batter up. Love the card image photos.

Not sure where to exactly post this but it needs some eyes on it other than just mine.
Speaking of odd, I noticed an unusual attribute on my 1915 Cracker Jack Al Demaree #92. I am just wandering if anyone else knows much about this potential print error on the card. I can’t find anything written about it but I did see two others like the one that I have. Just trying to see how many are out there.
Just below the C and R above his left elbow there looks to be a super small “y”. The other two that I found were in the same location but it does look to be a print error. Most images I can find do not have this attribute.
I will see if I can attach a picture.
Any thoughts or info about it?

This doesn't really belong with all the great photos and cards here, but here's my lame contribution. I collect Al Lassman stuff because of his interesting story. He was an all american tackle at NYU, his career was ended early when he was seriously injured, then he died while recovering from his injury. He was good enough to be chosen for the 1955 Topps All Americans set. I think this pic was used for his 1927 W560 card. My photo has a stain by his ear, otherwise the photo looks the same to me.

Hopefully this is an acceptable addition to this thread? Here's my circa 1920/21 glass plate copy negative, and it's inverted positive, of the top image from the E121 American Caramel Babe Ruth Montage card. Wish I owned the card as well.

I'm still trying to research what became of the original photo, and how this negative came into existence, and it's original intent. Feedback welcomed.
