Posted By: Dan Bretta
Just got this one in the mail today...it's Paddock, Nebraska. The interesting thing to me is that it appears as though they may have been playing against a Woman's team? The two players on the right appear to be women to me.

Posted By: Steve
Just discovered that those players in the cut photo appeared in this game to raise funds for the war effort. I sure hope the old-timers team photo(s) are in here.

*Pictured is a lineup of baseball's oldtimers who appeared at the Polo Grounds today to take part in a program featuring a war bond baseball game sponsored by the New York Journal American. Left to right, back row: "Duffy" Lewis, Ed Collins, Roger Bresnahan, Connie Mack, Umpire Klem "Red" Murray, George Sissler. Front row: Hans Wagner, Frankie Frisch, Babe Ruth, Walter Johnson, Tris Speaker. The 45,000 who attended the Patriotic Jubilee bought $800,000 in war bonds.

August 26, 1943;*

Posted By: Mark
Awesome, Brock....

Any markings on that Tigers piece? I have not seen one of those pictured in well over 5 years, and have never actually seen one in person.

How many inches tall is it? Is it ceramic with matte finish paint? Any markings or manufacturer stamp on the back or bottom? Congrats... great pickup!

Posted By: Brock G.
Thanks Mark.
It is a shade under 9" tall and has no manufacturers mark anywhere. And you are correct, it is ceramic with a flat finish paint. I had never seen this piece until I came accross this one so I knew it was fairly rare but figured you probably had one or at least owned one at some point. I guess its a tougher piece than I thought.

Posted By: paulstratton
Picked this up...off of the floor when I opened an old book I bought. Index card signed by Joe Oeschger, who pitched 26 innings in ONE game in 1920. Oddly enough the other pitcher in the same game, Leon Cadore, did the same thing and the game was called due to darkness. Crazy.

Posted By: Keith
I picked up a couple neat looking college mascot statues lately that are part of the Carter Hoffman/Anri line. The two are a Yale bulldog and an Army mule. The Yale Bulldog is marked Italy on the bottom so I am guessing that this one is an Anri statue and not a Carter Hoffman. They Army one is unmarked or the mark is worn away, so I am not sure about that one.

I also picked up this 1912 calendar plate with a sports motif and a football player pictured.
