vintagecardprices.com - Thoughts?

I came across this website, and really like the premise ... tracking cards based on auction sales, of which they claim to have around 9.5 million on nearly 360,000 cards. I also like the want list feature (assuming it works correctly), which will tell you when cards with a minimum grade that you can set, from multiple grading card companies, come up for auction. However, the price seems kind of steep, at $180 per year.

Does anyone have any experience with this site or currently a member? Any thoughts or feedback?

I'm a member....it's a good site.....useful information

If you spend enough on your collection that $180 annually isn't a big amount, then it is essential. I love having pictures of the cards to correspond with the sales prices, since not every PSA 7 looks the same obviously, so it's nice to see if a lower sales price was due to bad centering, etc.

Best $180 I ever spent.

It's not perfect, but it's the best out there.

It costs a little more, but you could try it on a monthly subscription for one or two months to see if you find it useful.

Welcome aboard Jason. I’m fairly new to prewar also and vcp has saved me a lot more than $180 in uneducated impulse purchases I would have made had I not had the information and pictures available. Very useful and well worth it IMO.

lots of data on vcp. if you think the data is legitimate, probably worth buying.

"Not perfect but the best there is" -- perfectly put.

It's missed enough of my own purchases in the last few months to make me concerned about how much it's missing as a whole but it has no competition so what are ya gonna do?

I agree with the other opinions that it isn't perfect, but hands down the best tool available. I haven't seen anything else that is close. Like any data set, you shouldn't blindly trust it as there are anomalies in the data, but if used properly, it will save you money in the long run.

+1. I wish it also showed ungraded sales. It would be all over the place, but would be cool to see (especially for rare cards that don't come up for sale too often).

Well worth the investment especially for a card show like the National. Does most of the homework for you.

At $180 a month it would be well worth it. I use it constantly to track sales as well as to value cards.

ajjohnsonsoxfan 10-12-2017 01:38 PM

wow $180/mo must be the Executive Platinum VIP package!

It's $180 per year, not per month (gold membership).
The monthly rate is $13 per month (silver membership).

Yes  and my point was that even if it were $180 a month it would be worth it. Been using the site since inception.
