M.Blown. Now thats funny

The seller's statement, "I don't know if its a reprint or not" tells the whole story. Was it P.T. Barnum that said, "a fool and his money are soon parted," or was his line, "a sucker's born everyday!"

I thought eBay had a new rule that if you didn't know if it were original or not you had to list it clearly as a reprint?

The extra work done on the back, and posting a scan of the back, is good marketing, at least. It looks like some folds and creases were made in it, consistent with the ones in the front image, then who knows what (coffee, tea, brown tempera, dirt... ) was used to tone those. I like the back scan almost as much as the front.

It's a shame that a potential tobacco card collector might buy that, eventually figure out he was scammed, then quit the hobby altogether.

Oh, I don't know. Anyone hoping to get an original Honus Wagner T206 card for $100 pretty much gets what they deserve.

I agree with Vargha

These people that think they are ripping someone off by buying a truly valuable item for peanuts get what they deserve. I feel sorry for people that pay close to true value for items that are forgeries or altered specimens.

Well, first off, I think someone would reproduce it because apparently somebody is willing to bid at least $99.99 for it.

Now as far as people talking about whether or not the seller is supposed to list it as a "Reprint" under ebay policy. I'd say yes, it has to be listed as one, if it's even allowed to be listed at all, since the Wagner is on ebay's list of cards that ARE NOT allowed to be sold raw, and the Wagner is on this strip.

How about this line from the auction:

"All cards are NRMT. I'm not a grader! All damaged cards are pulled from inventory and discarded."

Somehow, I don't think this particular "strip" of cards, is "NRMT"

Too bad the seller determines whether or not a question from a potential bidder will appear on the listing in the new eBay world.

I never seen anything like this.

GrayGhost 03-01-2011 10:31 AM

I don't feel sorry for ANYONE that buys that. Its an OBVIOUS reprint, Its just like buying an obvious autograph forgery. Know what you are bidding on, if you think its too good, it 99.9 pct of the time is.

glchen 03-02-2011 04:03 AM

Where do you find this list of ebay cards that are not allowed to be sold raw?
