Occupy Net54

Clearly there is an upper crust collector class amongst us who have selfishly hoarded the most rare and valuable collectible baseball cards at the expense of the “working class” collector. You in the top 1% have acquired Cobbs, Hindu Backs, etc, while the rest of us toil for a simple T206 common back beater. I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore.

So today begins my Occupy Net54 movment…I herby decry this unequal distribution of card resources and demand equality and “social justice” in the area of card collecting. Don’t make me spell this out any other way. I have an ’87 Fleer Bonds waiting in the wings and you have a T206 Walter Johnson (or something of equivalent value) to send my way in exchange. Viva le Revolucion!!

Funny stuff.

Funny

Funny? I am dead serious. That card in your avatar is a corporate asset that's got my name all over it

vintagetoppsguy 11-08-2011 09:49 PM

Funny stuff, Pat. Here's a pretty good "Occupy Wallstreet" spoof:

Personally I'm sick of hearing about these idiots. I'm also sick of them being comapred to the "peacefull demonstrators." The "peacefull demonstrators" never turned violent, nobody was ever raped, nobody ever died of a drug overdose and nobody ever deficated in public.

Pat, you are bang on right, entitlement has eluded you for long enough. So don't pay back that "student loan" since it was really a gift in the first place, and so you don't really have to pay it back. And what's more, that Rose RC you crave, like I do? Why don't they just send it to us? What's the matter with them, they owe us that much, don't they? Let me know where and when to sign up for your "revolucion." I hope you don't mind if I don't apply until Spring though, it is a little chilly up here to be tenting outside, and I really don't want to be inconvenienced. And besides, nobody has bought me a heater yet. But they sure owe me one.

Keep your politics in the water cooler.

Brian Van Horn 11-08-2011 11:00 PM

Good luck.

barrysloate 11-09-2011 05:22 AM

Patrick's original post was tongue in cheek. Let's keep it that way. I thought it was funny too.

dabigyankeeman 11-09-2011 06:04 AM

Great post Pat. Now give me your Pirate tobacco cards!!!!;)

Leon 11-09-2011 06:29 AM

agreed

I think Pat's first post was funny too. As for politics, please refrain from talking about it anywhere on this board. There are probably millions of other forums for that stuff. A little humor is always good.

vintagetoppsguy 11-09-2011 07:08 AM

I really didn't mean to offend anyone, so I've edited my post to replace the words "Tea Party" with the words "peaceful demonstrators."

For a forum that is supposed to be apolitical (and should be) David James consistently seeks political controversy in every post. It gets tiring.

Every post? Nice try, Kell.

I only remember ever posting my political opinion in one thread and that was in the Watercooler Section as did many others in that same thread (and I didn't even start that thread). But hey, I could be wrong. Since you made the statement above, why don't you link a couple of threads to prove your point?

FrankWakefield 11-09-2011 08:39 AM

To "Occupy Net54", one would need to start 30 different "occupy" threads, and then keep all 30 threads on the front page...

From experience, that would be a good way to get booted/banned/blocked.

LOL......but you were the best sport about it in the history of Net54baseball. Very, very rarely is anything taken personally as well as that long ago incident wasn't. Frank you are one of my favorite guys on Net54baseball and always have been :).

FrankWakefield 11-09-2011 08:46 AM

Thank you, Sir!!

And although I've yet to win one, I remain grateful with your fine board moderation, as well as the contests.

This 'place' is an interesting place!!! I'm honored to feel welcome.

Come on you find it funny because you agree with it. I found it stupid because like most it seems to not understand the purpose and just paints it with the socialists are bad brush.

Sounds like it's time for a DRUM circle.

Note: This is not my card as I am somewhere in the lower half of the 99%
