I posted this original CJ sign a page or two back.

Just picked this piece up. Can you spot what they both have in common. :)

Tony

The motto.... "THE MORE YOU EAT - THE MORE YOU WANT" ....is one thing they both have in common.

However, the...... "CRACKER JACK" ......label is printed in solid dark letters on the previous box, while
this 2nd box has light (or no color) letters.

So, what am I missing here ?

Hi Ted. Was only showing that the wooden sign in the picture was simply another wooden sign like the one I have. I wasn't stating that the sign in the photo was my actual sign???

Also, the dark lettering on the sign in the photo is black and white so there is no way to actually confirm what the color really is on that one. Black, red, who knows what it was! The one that I have is faded/aged red.

I just thought the photo was a great companion piece to go alongside my sign. Nothing more.....

Hi Tony

I guess I was looking too much into it, sorry.

Please continue posting all your great stuff.

This thread is a tremendous reflection of what our hobby is about.

Bob, the colors and print on your Old Gold ad resembles the printing found on 33 Goudeys. Love it..........

1944 World Series Trade Card ? for "Sellinger Display Service"

http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/204295...FELSCH_NEW.JPG

... This is not a postcard ; it's the size and thickness but the back is blank. The guy in the suit interviewing Art "Happy" Felsch appears to be Minneapolis Millers/St. Paul Saints radio announcer Jerry Harrington , which makes sense because after all it's the World Series and there's a war on and the big networks filled the press box with microphones and live feeds to every market possible. And that voice sold a lot of Wheaties to a lot of midwestern kids gathered around their radios listening to 'the ballgame'..

...Charlie Sheen played Felsch in "Eight Men Out".....good flick.

Thanks, I found it at the 2012 NSCC in Baltimore. I'll be in AC this week, looking for more goodies.

Picked up several Tobacco related 100-year old "goodies" at the HOF weekend Cooperstown Show a week ago.

I'll start with this Egyptienne Cigarette pack.

B18 flannels were issued wrapped around Cigarette packs. Shown here is one of the brands which the B18's were associated with.

The Cooperstown Show was full of "oldies but goodies" this year, I purchased this 23 1/2 " x 12 1/2 " x 8 " crate early on Friday morning,
as the Show opened. The price was right, so I dared not procrastinate (as I often do).

Show your Tobacco, Candy, Gum, Bread, etc. advertisement pieces

As I've already noted....the Cooperstown Show was full of "oldies but goodies" surprises this year. I added this Mayo Tin to my Tobacco
relics collection.
I posted an 1895 Mayo card with it; however, I don't think this Tin is circa 1895. I'm guessing that it's timeline is early 20th Century.

I would appreciate it if some one on this forum can identify the vintage of this Tin ? . Thanks guys......

Who needs some Tailoring done?

tedzan 08-23-2016 06:57 PM

In a neat little Antique shop in Oklahoma, I found this Plow Boy Tobacco Tin (circa 1910). Given the condition of it and its price,
it was a must buy.

Back in April, I posted a crude scan of this Tin, so here are some pretty looking scans for you.

Great looking Fatima Premium, Ted. Those really look better in person such as large photos do. Justice to true beauty can't be served on a computer screen.

Indeed, a 21" x 13" enlargement of a T200 brings out all the fine features of these small team pictures.

for the Gold Coin brand where one could theoretically exchange coupons for a house. I put the GC tin on my list but decided the condition and tangent not compelling enough. Oddly it was also only the second one I've seen! Those that know me are aware of my concentration on Ginter. Here's a neat graduated set of ashtrays for the gold dollar brand. After all I'm 90% a nonsports guy....

In 1933, the GOUDEY GUM Company started a revolution in the trading card market when they introduced their Indian Gum series
and their Big League series of cards packaged with buble gum in colorfully designed Waxpacks.
