Regrade?

Posted By: Henry
Should I get this regraded becuase the only thing that i can see as 2 quality is the light crease? I payed 375 for this card hoping it would get a better grade but I would like to know if I over payed.

Thankshttp://www.network54.com/Realm/tmp/1130196335.JPG

Posted By: zach
I think it may be a well presented PSA 2 but the crease is rather large and it does have corner ware. It probably has a shot at a 3. I wouldn't be too concerned about the holder as long as you like the card. Edited to add a pic of my PSA 2 Matty...it looks super good for the grade of a psa 2 IMO.
Also I saw the johnson on ebay and the crease doesn't seem too minor, it shows clearly through the back.

Posted By: andy becker
regrade no...grade is accurate. i'm not sure what a psa 2 is worth...last i sold was an sgc 50, about a month ago for 660...but that is apples and oranges.

Posted By: Damian
Henry,

That's a nice 2, but a 2 it is. When I first started getting T206's PSA'd I had similar experience. Cards that look like 4's, but when you take into consideration the card's flaws at a grass roots level it makes sense that they are the grade received. Cards with evenly rounded corners and a light crease can garner a 4. The corners on your Johnson are a bit layered and the crease is a little too heavy. I think you got a decent deal though. It's not a bargain, but you I don't think you overpaid. Thanks for posting it.

Damian

Posted By: andy becker
imo, it is a two regardless of who submits the card.
try it for kicks, but don't have any real expectations of a three.

Posted By: sagard
Does it really make a difference what the number says on lower grade pre-war cards? It sure seems to me that you pay for the visual appeal on the card itself rather than the number on the flip with cards like this.
