My first t206 given to me as a Christmas Gift as a teen. Also the first 33 Goudey I bought. Both aren't worth more than the sentimental value and are not rare in any way.

Priceless memories of my first card show at 10 years old in 1986.

I handed Straw an 86 Topps card prior to this one, which he signed (the card was later lost to time). Then, when I handed him this second 1986 Topps card, a security type 'handler' standing behind him curtly said it would be another $10 for him to sign a second card; it was $10 per sig apparently. I was tapped out and must have looked heartbroken, so Straw told the handler he was being a dick, and took my card, asking my name, and signed it for free...

Many, many years later, he wound up needing my brother's help to get into a nightclub in LA. I showed up and bought him a tequila shot, and regaled him with that story from 1986. Just a sweet guy all around. I always wonder what his final numbers could have been, had he fully applied himself and reached his max potential...

Anything Clemente related. My dad took me to the Hall of Fame the weekend they were opening the big Clemente exhibit (May of '98) and I was hooked. Sadly he passed this year, the cards mean that much more to me now than they ever did.

I dont have many pre-war items, since i focused on Mantle. (Love my 52 RC)

On the post-war side...of all the Mantles i do have..it has to be the 52 #311 Rc and the 51 Bowman as the favorites (but many fall right in line behind them)-BerkRoss, Dan-Dee, RedHeart, Oklah.Today
honorable mentions...my Hank Aaron RC picked up recently and all my football RC's like Joe Namath...he was my favorite in that era. along with Unitas, Montana, Payton.

1954 Topps Hank Aaron RC. He is my favorite player and it is just a great looking card.

1989 Score Nick Esasky. My grandmother took me to the game, and he signed the card for me

Good Guy Jay Wolt said something profound that has stuck for a long time, something along the lines of "We don't own them, we just borrow them for a while".

There's certainly a handful of cards I'd be less likely to sell/trade than others, but I have no delusions of grandeur that I plan to hold any of my cards for decades unforeseen

Dads 52T Mantle, picked from a pack when he was 9.

A few cards that my dad bought me when I was a kid. A Roger Clemons rookie, '75 Topps Dave Winfield and Reggie Jackson.

None of them are worth much monetarily but they have a great deal of sentimental value to me.

I guess it would have to be the 1962 Lou Brock rookie card I got signed in person. It's not in great shape, but it's personalized.

75 Diamond Stars that my dad bought as a kid in 1935, $.01 each

When I was a 14yo HS freshmen I asked a minor league ball player for advice on hitting. He not only gave me great advice but took the time to sign autographs, take a picture, and became a pen pal. You may have heard of him - Josh Hamilton. The cards and letters are priceless.

A rookie card of a H.O.F

Early on in my collecting career I believed in the "I would never ever sell." But I have learned that I can survive the sale of prized piece. The statement above sums it up precisely for me.

I guess that I would never sell the rare Merkles that I own (Pirate, Brown Lenox, Uzit) because without all of them the whole group is diminished.

But I really want to say that I love those Japanese Ruth cards. I only saw one for the first time a couple months ago, but I've decided that that card will be my "holy grail" for 2014. :D

Me and you both! Hes my favorite player and theres just something about that card that stands out from most.

This card would easily top my list of "untouchables" since its sentimental value outweighs its monetary value by about 1 billion to one. This card was in one of the very first packs of baseball cards I ever opened, and The Bird was my favorite player at the time.

On top of that, my dear Mom added it to her small collection of baseball memorabilia for a couple decades, then I inherited it when she passed on from this life back in 2010. I will never sell it as it reminds me of my childhood and my Mother, plus nobody would likely want to buy it ;)

...and then this card would be THE last card I'd ever sell, as it's one of my favorite cards to look at, plus it would be the most difficult to replace. It's also the one card in my collection that's generated the most requests to sell, but the collector in me just can't do it.

Let's just say the Altoona Tribune Johnson is happy with its playmates of the Altoona Tribune Crawford and the Altoona Tribune Mack.

Also, the W504 Rice is happy with its many fellow W504s.

Brian I'd love to see the Altoona cards especially the Johnson if you have them scanned.

Mine would be this rppc. My dad traded a bunch of his personal collection so I could have it.

I have a bunch of cards that would be the last ones to go...my e122 ruth, mendolsohn ruth...but for the right price...they can be yours!!!!

At this point in time I'd say my Miller run is absolutely off the table...if and when I complete it...we'll just have to wait and see!!!

I'd have to say my 90 leaf Thomas that he signed for me after a Twins game in the early 90's. Same thing would go for my 89 UD Griffey that he signed after meeting him. It was sweet being neighbors with a Twins coach for both World Series titles.

Pete, which coach?

Wayne Terwilliger "Twig". He was the 1st base coach and played in the show in the '50's - '60's. He played with Jackie and was at the field with shot heard 'round the world. Twig is in the background of Puckett's 6th game hr.

Nelson, one of the best threads, it truly made me think. I'm 27 and have built a collection I'm so blessed to have had the chance to acquire. I have my Ruth, Mantle and Gehrig signed "rookies" (I know I know Pete, don't kill me on the rookie part :) ), but my dad got me hooked on vintage, and the first cards he got me were from a gentleman named Calvin who had an amazing shop in MN. He got me an Oldring T206 that would grade to a 6, Hoblitzell T205 and a Ewing silk I believe. That is what started it all for my love of these cards.

My 1980 Topps Rickey Henderson RC. It came out of the first pack of cards that I ever bought. Also my 1955 Ted Williams and 1961 Mantle AS card.
