How about Mookie Betts!
Early days, but Mookie Betts is on fire. Freddie Freeman is looking strong also. Even Yamamoto looks like something other than a massive bust. As a lifelong Mets fan, I have nothing but envy in my heart.

Mets playing below their low expectations. Pretty sad. Catcher is the real deal though.

Nice pitching by Manae last night. Can't wait for Kodai Senga to get healthy. As for Mookie Betts, he is an absolute beast that seems to get better with age. I don't really collect modern, but I picked up a couple of his Rookie cards last year. Seems like they should be worth more than they are. |
......and $700 million for a .250 hitter.

Yeah, in spite of my skepticism around modern cards, I decided to play the pass line bet and buy a few Mookie, Freddie and Ohtani cards last year. I figured that at least two of them would have great years.

A healthy season should put Betts over 70 career WAR. Combined with two WS wins, and a pile of Gold Gloves, SS, and AS selections, he'll likely cross into the realm of "sure-thing HOF even if he retires today", joining Mike Trout as the two names who qualify on the hitter side.
And he's only 31...a really amazing talent and a lot of fun to watch. |
