Baines HOF election

Any thoughts on Harold Baines election to the Hall of Fame? To me, who saw an enormous amount of him, he was always a good player, but never at any time one of ten best in the league, let alone one the majors' ten best players. Instead, he was an accumulator, a compiler, whose lifetime stats would have actually been an indicia of worthiness had they been compiled in 15 years or less, rather than 22.

All opinions welcome,

Larry

Approximately 1.2% of the 19,300 individual MLB players who have played the game make it to the Hall. An extremely small percentage.

Deceptive stat with all the cups of coffee out there. What's the percentage of players who play 10 years or more?

Agreed on the point you are making but the cup of coffee players were given a chance to make it a career but ultimately failed.

Not defending the decision to elect or argue that Baines was deserving, but his numbers - accumulated or not - are certainly in the top 1.2% population. So are about 20 other guys and would make it less than 1.5% ....
