(A different) Trivia Challenge:
BBR is taboo as a resource for the answer to this:
Since the June Amateur Draft started in 1965, only (4) four overall #1 picks have won 100 or more games in the majors- Who are they and who has the most wins? |
anyone want to guess this one?
|
I think I know one of them, one of my old Mariners "greats", Mike Moore. Didn't look him up but I know we drafted him first overall, and that he pitched long enough to have over 100 wins but not sure how many more than 100 (and probably more losses as well).

You got it, Jeff!
Mike Moore - drafted by Seattle in 1981 161W-176L Andy Benes - drafted by San Diego in 1988 155W-139L Tim Belcher - drafted by Minnesota in 1983 146W-140L Floyd Bannister - drafted by Houston in 1976 134W-143L I got to see Bannister pitch for the Columbus, GA Astros - for someone who threw so hard, he landed like he was doing ballet...very smooth, polished delivery...I thought he was going to be one of the All-Time greats. Belcher also had a nice, smooth delivery - for whatever that seems to be worth. |
All four of those guys played for the Mariners at some point in their careers - probably didn't help their win/loss totals for the most part!
