Superficial or legitimate price boom?

Posted By: MikeW
Is it me or do people think that Plank's E95 has ANYTING to do with his T206 besides a similar picture? A few years ago this card would struggle to get $100 in VG.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-Philadelphia-Caramel-Eddie-Plank-PSA-3_W0QQitemZ270037935175QQihZ017QQcategoryZ31718QQr dZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Maybe it is just me... but something about the price for cards that LOOK like valuable cards seems superficial.

Not to take anything away from the greatest shortstop of all time, but I think Honus Wagner's cards all get a huge bump across the board simply because of his T206 as well.

Superficial or legitimate price boom?

Posted By: Dylan
This is very true. In todays hobby people see these prestigous cards and that makes cards(that are simaler in age) with the same image prestigous by assocation.

Superficial or legitimate price boom?

Posted By: Josh K.
I think the run up on this card stems as much from the run up on caramels generally as much as it does the pose. The e95 plank has been very hot for over a year now, as has the cobb and many others. Ive had two planks. Unfortunately, I sold the one on the left before the current run up.
